Troy Baker Career

Career

Baker began his voice acting career in Dallas doing radio commercials. Christopher Sabat had been recruited by Funimation to do voice-over work for the English translation of the anime Case Closed. He went on to work in dubbing anime such as Bleach, Dragon Ball Z, Fullmetal Alchemist, Naruto: Shippuden, and One Piece's Funimation. He then migrated to Los Angeles to work on a Marvel-based animated film, as well as Hawkeye and Loki in Ultimate Spider-Man and Avengers Assemble.

Baker's career in game development began when he played Matt Baker in the tactical shooter series Brothers in Arms. "It was starting to become important for actors [in gaming], so I joined in and it went from one job to the next. That was kind of my first snowball encounter." In 2013, he appeared in BioShock Infinite and Joel's voice and motion capture in The Last of Us, one of his most well-known roles. Both games received critical acclaim, with scores rising above 90% on GameRankings and Metacritic, as well as widespread commercial success. At VGX 2013, he was nominated for both of these roles, as well as for The Last of Us. He appeared on Uncharted 4: A Thief's Conclusion, portraying Nathan Drake's older brother Sam. He played Uncharted: The Lost Legacy in which he resurrects his role.

Baker was the voice of Siris, Chair Entertainment's blockbuster mobile game series Infinity Blade, in 2011, and he became the voice of Talion, the protagonist of Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, which received a rating of 9.3 on IGN. In the English dub of the anime Stitch, he also voiced Ace (Experiment 262). He was selected in Entertainment Weekly's best of 2013 issue for best breakout actor in the video game industry for his roles in The Last of Us, BioShock Infinite, and as the Joker in Batman: Arkham Origins. He is one of the few actors to have played Batman (Lego Batman, Lego Dimensions, Batman: The Encounters Within), and Robin's three major iterations of Batman: Gods Among Us and Jason Todd (as Red Hood and the main antagonist) in Batman: The Enemy Within), he is one of the few characters to have played Batman (Lego Batman 2), Batman: The Enemy Within).

Baker and voice actor Nolan North launched Retro Replay, a weekly YouTube show. Baker left his own series in April 2020 due to a lack of information about the show's future direction.

It was discovered on January 14, 2022, that Voiceverse NFT, a Baker company, had stolen voice lines from 15.ai as part of their promotion campaign without permission. According to log files, Voiceverse had created audio of Twilight Sparkle and Rainbow Dash from the television show My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic using 15.ai, pitching them up to make them seem unrecognizable from the original voices and appropriating them to falsely market their own platform, in breach of 15.ai.

Baker and Voiceverse's initial relationship was met with skepticism and largely critical reception. Critics also discussed the environmental impact and potential for exit scams associated with NFT transactions. "You can hate it." Commentators also pointed to Baker's first tweet announcing the relationship, which concluded with the remark "You can hate it." Or you can design.

What'll it be?"

This was just hours before the public announcement that the company in question had resorted to stealing rather than inventing their own products. Baker said he loved people who shared their thoughts and their responses, which had "giving [him] a lot to think about." He also admitted that the "hate/create" part of his initial tweet might have been "a bit adamant," and asked followers on social media to forgive him.

Baker revealed on January 31, two weeks later, that he would not continue his relationship with Voiceverse.

Baker was the lead singer and rhythm guitarist for Tripp Fontaine, which debuted the radio single "Burning Out" from their debut album Random Thoughts on a Paper Napkin in 2004.

Sitting in the Fire, Baker's first solo album, was released on October 14, 2014. Baker and his backing band, Sitting in the Fire, released their second album Moving Around Bias under the new name of Window to the Abbey on October 6, 2017.

However, EW announced that legendary video game actor Troy Baker (The Last Of Us, Resident Evil) will be voicing Indy shortly after the trailer was posted.
