Trent Boult Career

Cricket career

At the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup, Boult was New Zealand's top wicket taker. Following the tournament, Boult was given his first call-up to the Indian Premier League by the Sunrisers Hyderabad, and he was sold for $600,000.

In February 2017, he was purchased by the Kolkata Knight Riders team for the 2017 Indian Premier League for 5 crores.

He appeared in the IPL from 2018 to 2019.

In June 2019, he was selected to compete for the Toronto Nationals franchise team in the 2019 Global T20 Canada tournament.

Prior to the thirteenth season of the IPL, Boult was traded by Delhi to the Mumbai Indians. He was instrumental in Mumbai's victory in the 2020 IPL championships. He was the man of the match in the final and was also named Player of the Season. In that version of the IPL, Boult claimed 25 wickets and was the third highest wicket taker after Kagiso Rabada and Jasprit Bumrah. He also bowled 4 maiden overs, the most by any player in an IPL season. His best bowling figures in the IPL are 4/18 against CSK on October 23, 2020.

The Rajasthan Royals purchased Boult in the 2022 IPL auction.

In 2007, Boult accompanied the New Zealand A team on a winter training tour. Against India's Under-19 team, he took two wickets for 28 runs and seven not out on February 9, 2007. In February 2008, he returned to Malaysia for the Under-19 World Cup.

Boult was selected for the New Zealand squad against Australia at 19 years old on January 21, 2009. Boult only managed to play in the warm-up game against the Prime Minister's XI, but went wicketless off seven overs. With a fastest speed of 143.3 kilometers per hour (89.0 mph), Boult was clocked as the fastest bowler touring with the New Zealand team during the tour.

In the Second Test against Australia in Hobart, Boult made his Test debut in the 2011–12 season, New Zealand's first test victory over Australia since 1985 and their first test victory over Australia since 1993. He took four wickets in the match; in addition, he scored 21 runs in a tenth-wicket team with Chris Martin in the second innings.

To solidify his position as Tim Southee's new ball partner, Boult put on a string of good results with the ball against the West Indies, India, and Sri Lanka in 2012. He maintained his good form into 2013 by taking 19 wickets in five tests against England, including his best test match bowling figures of 6/68 at Eden Park in March.

After suffering a side strain during New Zealand's last test match against England at Leeds, Boult returned to the New Zealand test team for a two-test tour of Bangladesh. Boult was struggling in the hot and dry weather, taking just three wickets and often straying with his accuracy. However, Boult returned to his best after returning from home in the West Indies due to his touring circumstances. After collecting career best figures of ten for 80 and then catching a spectacular one-handed diving catch to his left, Boult won man of the match award in his second test at the Basin Reserve Boult. Dinesh Ramdin was disqualified. Boult dismissed Ajinkya Rahane in the first innings of the second test on the same grounds against India. He had previous bowling figures of 4 for 146.

Boult's squad number increased from 8 to 18, a number not previously used by Mathew Sinclair in the 2014 T20 series against the West Indies.

In the third Test, the first ever day-night test in Australia, Boult became the first New Zealander and second overall after Josh Hazlewood's first single day-night performance. However, Australia won the day-night match by 3 wickets. The ICC selected him in the 'Team of the Tournament' for the 2015 World Cup.

He received the Sir Richard Hadlee Medal for his work in the 2017--18 season.

Boult had his best Test results in 2018, taking 6/32 in the First Test against England in Auckland. England was bowled out for 58 in their first innings, but New Zealand went on to win the Test by an innings and 49 runs. New Zealand won the series 1–0; Boult took 15 wickets at an average of 18.33 and was named man of the series. He was named Men's Test Player of the Year and the Sir Richard Hadlee Medal for the best International player of the year at the NZC Annual Awards. Boult was one of 20 players to be granted a new deal by New Zealand Cricket in May this year.

Boult claimed his fifth five-wicket haul on India's 2018–19 New Zealand tour, the joint-most for a New Zealand bowler alongside Richard Hadlee. His team had a success of 5/21, despite the fact that his team was deprived of India's lowest number of ODIs since 2010. New Zealand defeated Boult in one of their biggest victories, and Man of the match was named man of the match.

He was selected in New Zealand's squad for the 2019 Cricket World Cup in April 2019. Boult took his 150th wicket in ODI cricket on June 5, 2019, defeating Bangladesh. Boult scored his second hat-trick of the World Cup on June 29, 2019, in the match against Australia. He was the first bowler for New Zealand to bowl a hat-trick at the Cricket World Cup. Boult was named in New Zealand's squad for the 2021 ICC Men's T20 World Cup in August 2021. He helped his team reach the finals by taking 13 wickets for New Zealand, the highest for his team.

Boult took his 300th wicket in Test cricket in January 2022, in his second match against Bangladesh.

On Tuesday, Liam Livingstone promises that England will'double down' on attacking intent against Bangladesh at the Cricket World Cup, as he believes the pitch suits his team

LAWRENCE BOOTH IN DHARAMSHALA: Liam Livingstone has told England that they will 'double down' on their attacking instincts as they brace for their World Cup match against Bangladesh on Tuesday, a game that has taken on unexpected dimensions after New Zealand's opening-night mauling.

Don't rely on Ben Stokes, exploit Reece Topley's height and left-arm angle and make a fast start in the powerplay - five areas England must improve to get back on track at the World Cup

LAWRENCE BOOTH: England will not be able to deal another stumble against Bangladesh in Dharamshala on Tuesday after losing by nine wickets by New Zealand on the first day of the World Cup in Ahmedabad. Here are five ways they can be more effective starting with 12 off Trent Boult's first over, but England slowed so much that only 39 people were able to get the next nine off the road, with a sluggish 51 for one of the powerplay was put into perspective by New Zealand's 81 for one of the same stage.

England defeats New Zealand by 2-1 series lead and further lays down their World Cup credentials thanks to Ben Stokes' record-breaking innings

www.dailymail.co.uk, September 13, 2023
Ben Stokes may have been forgiven for sticking his feet up following an epic Ashes sequence, but this is not how this remarkable cricketer operates. Not a week into his one-day return, but he spanked New Zealand for 182 - the highest score by an England player in 782 one-day internationals dating back 52 years. In 124 balls of mayhem, handshakes from the fielders, and a standing ovation from an appreciative crowd, there were 15 fours and nine sixes, as well as a standing ovation from an appreciative audience. Above all, Stokes was ominous for opponents, and they may have been sent to assist England in defending their title in India. It's odd to think he never reached 102 years old.
