Travis Stork Career

Career

Stork's alumna cum lauded as a member of Phi Beta Kappa Society, Duke University's highest honors, and he earned his medical degree from the University of Virginia, where he was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha. He then began an emergency medicine residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tennessee.

Stork appeared on Season 8 of The Bachelor during his stay. Stork selected schoolteacher Sarah Stone, who fortunately lived just a few blocks away from his Nashville home, for his season finale. However, just one week after the show's pre-taped finale aired, the couple announced that their friendship was now over. He finished his residency and then worked in the emergency departments at Vanderbilt and a hospital in Colorado.

Stork appeared on The Doctors, a Los Angeles-based daytime medical/talk show, beginning in September 2008 and running until September 2020, when the show was rebranded to a single-host style. Stork hosted a panel of three other physicians from various fields (pediatrics, plastic surgery, and obses/gynecology) who addressed health care and answered questions from the audience. The idea arose from a series of segments on Dr. Phil, to which Stork was also a regular contributor.

In 2010, the show received the Daytime Emmy Award for Outstanding Talk Show Informative.

According to a 2014 review, "evidence supported 63%, contradicted 14%, and was not found for 24%" of the panel's recommendations, and "the general public should be skeptical about medical consult shows."

Stork became chairman of the Medical Advisory Board in October 2013. He was no longer associated with the company as of March 2015.

Several books on health, including The Lean Belly Prescription and The Doctor's Diet, have been published in the New York Times Best Seller list in the "Advice, How-to, and Miscellaneous" category, which includes The Lean Belly Prescription and The Doctor's Diet, have been published by Stork, and they also featured "Advice, How-to & Miscellaneous" section.
