Tracy Brookshaw (born May 22, 1975) is a retired Canadian professional wrestler, collegiate wrestling referee, and a professional wrestling referee better known by her ring name Traci Brooks.
She is best known for her work in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA), where she spent the majority of her time.
Early life
In St. Marys, Ontario, Brookshaw grew up on a pig and chicken farm. She won the Toronto Sunshine Millennium Calendar contest in 2000, leading to her being named Miss June 2000 and being interviewed in the Toronto Sun. Brookshaw went on to work on promotional modeling with the Molson, Labatt, and Budweiser beverage brewers.
Brookshaw said in an interview that she aspired to be "the next WWF Superstar." Ron Hutchison, a professional wrestler who worked with the Sully's Gym professional wrestling academy in Toronto, Ontario, was introduced to her. Brookshaw began training under Hutchinson in March 2000 and debuted as "Tracy Brooks" in January 2001.
Personal life
On January 7, 2010, Brookshaw married fellow TNA wrestler Frank Gerdelman, better known as Frankie Kazarian; they began dating in 2006 when she served as his boss. Brookshaw and Gerdelman welcomed their first child, a son, in October/November 2012, who she announced on Twitter in early July 2013.
Brookshaw revealed that she suffered from Erb's palsy as an infant as a result of her birth in an October 2008 interview with the Chicago Sun-Times. Although she recovered for the most part due to intensive care, she did mention that she had impaired mobility in her right arm, which was affecting her in the ring. "I don't have a biceps or a triceps," she has said. I have a uniceps.
Professional wrestling career
Brooks has appeared on numerous independent publications, including Border City Wrestling and the Apocalypse Wrestling Federation (AWF). She was a member of the United Felina program and was in charge of a program run for a short time by Canadian hip-hop artist Dan-e-o. Brookshaw (as Miss Apocalypse) won the AWF heavyweight championship on August 30, 2001. She continues to work for independent organizations, including Blood Sweat and Ears in her home province, as well as NWA Cyberspace, where she competes for the NWA Cyberspace Women's Championship.
Traci has even competed in international custom wrestling matches against Amber O'Neal and Christie Ricci, as well as former wrestlers.
On April 30, 2003, Brooks debuted in Total Nonstop Action Wrestling, a Catholic schoolgirl dancer who entertained the live audience during intermissions. Brooks asked to be entered in a gauntlet competition in which the winner would have a chance to sue National Wrestling Alliance official Bill Behrens for sexual harassment if he did not comply the following week. Brooks instead tried to trick Behren into allowing her to participate in the competition when her threats fell. Brooks was then placed in a triple threat match with fellow female wrestlers Desire and Trinity, with the winner gaining entry to the gauntlet tournament. Brooks won the match after Kid Kash's ambushed Trinity and David Young mistakenly punched Desire. Later that evening, Lollipop assaulted her as she approached the ring to enter the gauntlet tournament. Brooks was quickly pinned and evicted by Kid Kash after she stepped into the ring.
Brooks was paired with David Young in a "Anarchy Alliance" tag team tournament on May 21, determining the top candidates for the NWA World Tag Team Championship. They defeated Kid Kash and Trinity on May 21 and Ron Killings (whose partner, Don Harris, had declined to work with him) on June 4. Brooks was injured by Killings during the match. Nurse Veronica (who had recently debuted on air as TNA's backstage advisor) rushed to help Brooks. Brooks was also active in catfights with Young's valet Desire during this period. In the tournament final, Brooks and Young then met America's Most Wanted, but lost. Young threatened Brooks after the match, but Veronica saved her from it.
TNA officials will no longer allow women to compete against men, according to Goldy Locks, Brooks, and Veronica, but they will continue to work together as Bitchslap, a stable. Any woman in attendance was then offered an open challenge. April Pennington and Lollipop, two TNA cage dancers (who had been attacked by Brooks just weeks earlier), accepted the challenge. They threatened Brooks and Veronica but were stopped by TNA security guards. Lollipop challenged Bitchslap to a match the following week. Veronica (without Brooks) accepted, but Lollipop and Pennington followed her, but TNA security later stopped the catfight, but the real fight was not concluded. Brooks was then replaced by Veronica with Cheerleader Valentina (who had earlier competed as JV Love on TNA Xplosion in a match against Brooks). Brooks was unable to travel from Canada to TNA taping, which was the reason for the change. The storyline with Bitchslap was eventually ended because TNA didn't have enough female wrestlers to compete against the group, and Veronica dropped out of a two-year deal with TNA, opting for either WWE or a Japanese company. Brooks was removed from television for repackaging, Trinity was put into other storylines, and TNA hasn't allowed Valeria to book Valentina.
On November 5, 2003, Brooks returned to TNA, assisting Shane Douglas in defeating The Sandman. Michael Shane defeated Sonjay Dutt on November 26, Douglas and Brooks, now known as "Traci," helped him defeat Sonjay Dutt. The threesome gathered, and Douglas declared that they would be named "The New Franchise" after the match.
With Triple X, Christopher Daniels, Low Ki, and Elix Skipper), the New Franchise began feuding. Shane lost to Daniels on April 21, 2004, when he failed to reach his finisher after he passed up on a pinfall opportunity. Shane was compelled to scream and slapping his erstwhile mentor after Douglas admonished him. Douglas was eventually grabbed from behind by Traci, allowing Shane to superkick Douglas. Traci assisted Shane in defeating Douglas in a singles match the following week.
Traci continued to work Shane, who was now focusing on the X Division Championship. Shane was unable to defeat A.J., the incumbent champion. So he and Traci drafted Frankie Kazarian in order to maximize their numbers advantage. The result was a new stable/tag team that was widely known by fans as Shazarian. Styles defended his title against Shane and Kazarian in a three-way Ultimate X match on July 28, 2004 after weeks of protests. Despite being able to negate Traci's influence by giving her a Styles Clash, he was eventually knocked unconscious by Shane and Kazarian's combined efforts. Shane and Kazarian then climbed for the X Division Championship and recovered the belt at the same time, becoming co-champions. In a Gauntlet Match on August 11, they lost the titles to Petey Williams.
Traci converted into a fan favorite in late 2004, leaving Shane and Kazarian for Dusty Rhodes, the TNA Director of Authority. Trinity also wanted to be Rhodes' assistant, but the boy had to recruit a new tag team. On March 13, 2005, the teams faced one another, with the winning team's manager taking over Rhodes' sole assistant. Traci's staff (Don and Ron Harris, the Disciples of Destruction), defeated Trinity's workers (Big Tilly and Bruno Sassi - Phi Delta Slam), making her Rhodes' assistant. Traci eventually left Rhodes' side and began to supervise Chris Sabin, who was feuding with Michael Shane and Trinity. She attempted to stop Trinity from playing in a four-way X Division Xscape elimination match between Sabin, Sonjay Dutt, Shocker, and Shane, but she failed. The feud raged on Hard Justice on May 15, when Sabin and Traci lost to Shane and Trinity. Traci turned on Sabin and Shane turned on Trinity, with Traci aligning herself with Shane once more and Trinity siding with Sabin during the match.
Traci revived Shane and stayed with him when he changed his name to Matt Bentley, which was his real name. She did some interview work for TNA as Bentley stood out during contract renegotiations in August 2005. Traci acted as a backstage interviewer at Unbreakable on September 11, the first time. Since returning from Unbreakable, she returned to Bentley's side. Bentley turned heel and launched a dispute with longtime tag partner Lance Hoyt in February 2006. Bentley was forced to miss a lot because of the feud, due to an accident. During the company's downtime, Traci did promotional work for the company.
On Impact!'s May 15 taping, she defeated Gail Kim in the first women's match in over a year. The match was purely for the forthcoming TNA Knockouts DVD, not for the Spike TV show. Kim gained the pin after being manipulated by America's Most Wanted. She defeated Kim with Christy Hemme as referee in a Hardcore War.
Traci was announced as Bound for Glory's boss in 2006 and renamed "Ms. Brooks," making her a villain. At the October 28 Impact, she was he was supervised by her during the Fight for the Right Tournament. In a bikini competition at Turning Point, she lost to Eric Young. She was told to sign Young to a deal after that, no matter how much money it took to do it. Ms. Brooks began to coerce him to have sex with her in the storyline. However, news reports implying that her fainting was staged have surfaced, as Brooks was expected to do so by Vince Russo. At the January 10 Impact!
Ms. Brooks was fired by Roode and replaced with the female fan, who was identified by Roode as Ms. Payton Banks. Brookshaw reverted to a crowd favorite and her "Traci Brooks" ring name shortly thereafter, and began court feuding with Banks. Against All Odds, she defeated Banks at the annual pay-per-view game. Traci defeated Payton Banks after a facebuster from the top turnbuckle on April 3rd. She took part in the first "Queen of the Cage" match, which was won by Roxxi Laveaux at Lockdown. Traci was involved in the first TNA Knockout Makeover Battle Royal, which was won by Gail Kim at Sacrifice.During the July 17 edition of Impact!

Traci argued herself as a villainess in a Lauren interview in which she protested TNA for not giving her a spot on television, explaining her absence. On the October 22 edition of Impact!
The main event in Mafia was postponed. Traci began a feud with Alissa Flash as she returned to Flash after losing to her in a singles match. Traci became a celebrity on Impact's November 19 episode after she lost to Sarita.
