Torrance Coombs (born June 14, 1983) is a Canadian-American actor.

He is perhaps best known for his roles in Tudors (2007-2010) and as Sebastian "Bash" de Poitiers, the illegitimate son of King Henry II of France and his chief mistress Diane de Poitiers in Reign (2013–2017).

Early life and education

Coombs was born and raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. He joined the school choir to better express himself, and was soon cast in the role of Rum Tugger in the musical comedy Cats. To help with the role, he rented a video of Elvis Presley in concert. Both Canada and the United States have Coombs, who hold dual citizenship.

He continued to do drama at University Hill Secondary School and then enrolled in the acting program at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver.

Personal life

Miss USA 2011, Alyssa Campanella, began dating in 2010. They were announced engaged on June 12, 2015. The two people married in Santa Ynez, California, on April 2, 2016. The couple announced their separation in April 2019 and divorced in the same year. Since 2020, he has been in a liaison with actress Sloane Avery.

Coombs has appeared in productions at Bard on the Beach, an annual professional Shakespeare festival in Vancouver; he has also appeared in the film A Little Night Music.

John Doe's first appearance on television was as John Doe in the 2008 CBC comedy series jPod, based on Douglas Coupland's book of the same name. Lance Corporal C. Sellers was also featured in a 2009 episode of Battlestar Galactica.

In 2010, Coombs appeared in The Tudors' television series Thomas Culpeper and as Chase Powers in CBC's Heartland. Sam Besht co-starred in the Hulu drama series Endgame in 2011.

On March 11, 2013, it was revealed that Coombs had been cast in a leading role as Sebastian in the CW period drama series Reign. At the 2014 Monte-Carlo Television Festival, he was nominated for Outstanding Actor in a Drama TV Series for his role in Reign. Coombs left Reign as a series regular at the end of the third season, with the possibility of appearing as a guest star in future episodes.

On ABC, Coombs would appear as a series regular in Shonda Rimes' latest series Still Star-Crossed.

In August 2017, it was announced that Coombs would appear in a recurring role in The Originals' final season.

He appeared as Sam Matheson in the short film The Familiar in 2009 and as PJ in the short film Good Image Media. He appeared in Liars All, a psychological thriller, in 2012.
