Anthony Lucidonio Jr. (born March 12, 1962) better known as Tony Luke Jr. is an American restaurateur, singer, and television presenter who created Tony Luke Jr.'s cheesesteak franchise.
Personal life
Luke was born in South Philadelphia. He attended Philadelphia High School for the Performing and Creative Arts.
He now uses methamphetamine and other opioids as a child to remind children that challenges can be overcome.
In 1982-1983, he was a state kickboxing champion.
Luke and his wife divorced in 2011 after 31 years of marriage. He has three sons, three of whom have served for him. Anthony James Lucidonio III, Luke's eldest son, died in his home from an accidental opioid overdose at the age of 35.
Career
After high school, Luke married at the age of 18. To help his growing family, Tony Lucidonio Sr worked in food trucks and other odd jobs. Luke, his brother, Nicky, and their father bought a house near the expressway in South Philadelphia in the early 1990s. Tony Luke's original stand had a more varied menu, as well as cheesesteaks, to compete with other local establishments. Luke Jr. took over the store's marketing shortly.
Eventually, the business grew to include many locations in the Philadelphia area as well as a line of frozen sandwiches. The company now has several franchised shops in Bahrain thanks to a joint venture with Rastelli Foods Group.
Tony Luke's restaurant franchise, Tony Luke's, has expanded from its original South Philadelphia location to Citizens Bank Park, Atlantic City, The Wildwoods, and the Kingdom of Bahrain. "Tony Luke's Pronto," Luke's frozen line, is available across the country. Multiple awards and accolades have been given to Luke and his restaurants by both local and national newspapers, as well as being included in episodes of Throwdown! Impossible, Man vs. Food and Food Wars, Bobby Flay, Dinner: Impossible, Dinner is Impossible, Man vs. Food and Food Wars.
In 2010, Luke opened a Bahrain location and hopes to open 60 more in the Middle East and North Africa.
He was the host of "Tony Luke's Eaglemania" on ABC affiliate WPVI-TV in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, which aired on Saturday nights for a portion of the Eagles' 2010 season.
