Tony Lucca Career

Professional and musical career

Lucca was 14 and going to Detroit to audition for the Disney film Newsies, only to find out that the audition was for The Mickey Mouse Club instead. He auditioned for the show and was selected for callbacks in Los Angeles, after being encouraged by his sister. He was chosen with eight other children in Los Angeles for the fourth season of the show. Lucca and his mother went to Orlando, Florida, where they lived in an apartment complex with other cast members, and then travelled back to Michigan for seasons. He stayed with the show for four seasons before being allowed to leave during the seventh season, when the program was cancelled.

Lucca moved to Los Angeles in 1995 to begin an acting career. At the time, he was living with fellow Mickey Mouse Club castmate Keri Russell, his girlfriend at the time. Russell and Lucca were cast and performed leads together on the Aaron Spelling-produced Malibu Shores, a television teen drama series that lasted for one season. During this period, he produced commercials for Levi Jeans, J.C. Penney, and Blockbuster Video. He had minor success in film, appearing in an NBC film of the week, Her Last Chance With Kellie Martin and Jonathan Brandis, as well as two independent features. In 1997, he left acting to pursue music and became a guitarist.

Lucca released So Satisfied, his first music album, which he also co-produced in 1997. In 1998, he launched his website www.tonylucca.com and began selling his debut CD and its self-released sequel, Strong Words Softly Spoken, on the website and at live shows; each CD purchased was numbered and signed; on live shows, he later released two EPs and a limited number of Live & Limited CDs; each CD's was limited and signed; each CD was sold. He appeared as the opening act for boy band NSYNC, which also starred Justin Timberlake and JC Chasez.

Shotgun, Lucca's third full length album and his first commercially distributed album, was released in 2004 in collaboration with Lightyear and New Vibe Records; JC Chasez, who traveled with Lucca to support the album, co-produced the album. Canyon Songs, which appeared on both Laurel and Beachwood Canyons, and Live in Hollywood, a live concert album, was released by Rock Ridge Music in 2006. Come Around Again was launched in 2008.

Lucca was on a joint tour with Jay Nash and Matt Duke, which culminated in the 2009 EP TFDI. After the three artists developed a friendship during the tour, the collaboration, which stands for "Absolutely Doing It," was recorded in the Evanston, Illinois, studio SPACE. Lucca made a brief comeback to acting in a 901 Silver Tequila commercial directed by the brand's founder Justin Timberlake in 2010. He also appeared on an episode of Parenthood as a performer. Rendezvous With the Angels, Lucca's sixth album, was released in 2010, according to Rock Ridge Music. In November 2010, Solo, a b-sides and previously unreleased collection of b-sides and previously unreleased recordings, was released in November 2010 and given away for free in conjunction with Amazon.com's MP3 web store. TFDI II, Lucca's second collaborative CD with Jay Nash and Matt Duke, was released in mid-2011.

In its second season, Tony appeared on the Blind Auditions of the American reality talent show The Voice in its second season. He appeared on Ray LaMontagne's "Boose," and all four judges clicked on his red "I Want You" button for him. Adam Levine's crew was chosen to join Adam Levine's team. He and fellow Mouseketeer Christina Aguilera reunited in this exhibition. He advanced to the semi-finals by The Heavy, where he performed "How You Like Me Now" and advanced to the final round. Hugo's country-styled version of "99 Problems" by Hugo on May 7 during the final round. Lucca performed his last appearance on the show duetting with fellow contestant Jordis Unga, who was previously with Team Blake on the Fleetwood Mac album, "Go Your Own Way." It was revealed later that night that he had finished third in the tournament, barely ahead of winner Jermaine Paul from Team Blake and first runner-up Juliet Simms from Team Cee Lo. Lucca was later signed to Adam Levine's record label, 222 Records.

On July 16, 2013, Lucca released a six-song EP with The Whole World Watching Company. Lucca toured extensively after the introduction, with six dates on Kelly Clarkson's Honda Civic Tour opening and Maroon 5 on the Honda Civic Tour.

Lucca joined Patreon in 2013. Tony Levine, who was promoting Pat Levine's YouTube channel, revealed on November 12, 2013 that he no longer works with 222 Records. "I'm sure that I was signed to a very high profile record contract recently," says Excerpt. -Super cool. The majority of you are unaware of this is that the "record contract" has now come to an end. Not as cool as it sounds. "The main record industry 102 really," says the author.

Tony Lucca performed well in Nashville, Tennessee, to expand his songwriting. Tony Lucca's 2015 album was funded by crowd-funding site Kickstarter, as well as a related collection of songs titled Made to Shine – The Kickstarter Sessions. Lucca would later admit that the 2015 album took a personal toll on him, like "going through a bad breakup," and told Billboard that after the album, he "was in no hurry to return to the studio" but instead chose to co-write as many songs as he could with Nashville collaborators.

Lucca joined Nashville startup firm RootNote in 2018 and began working on his latest record Ain't No Storm, which he released with Nashville-based producer and former Wilco drummer Ken Coomer. In November 2018, he released "Everything's Changing" as his first single and music video. He signed a publishing contract with Demolition Music at the end of 2018.

On March 29, 2019, Tony Lucca independently released Ain't No Storm. PopMatters called the album a "expanding of his musical boundaries" and likening Lucca to contemporaries Amos Lee, Jason Isbell, and Ben Schneider, garnering critical acclaim. "One helluva record," "highly crafted songwriting," and "more inspired than ever."
