Career
Following his release from drama school, Goldwyn began acting in guest star roles in the mid-1980s. In the fantasy thriller film Ghost, Goldwyn had his breakthrough role playing Carl Bruner, a friend-turned-betrayer of Patrick Swayze's character Sam Wheat. Positive feedback followed the film and it was named Best Original Screenplay by the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. Goldwyn received a nomination for Best Supporting Actor for his role. Goldwyn appeared on the comedy series Designing People, in which he played Kendall Dobbs, an HIV-positive man who was dying from AIDS and requesting that the women of Sugarbakers design his funeral. In the HBO miniseries From the Earth to the Moon, Goldwyn played astronaut Neil Armstrong, the Apollo 11 commander. He also appeared in the 1999 animated feature film Tarzan, which was directed by Walt Disney Feature Animation and grossed over $400 million.
