Tommy Tiernan (born 16 June 1969) is an Irish comedian, writer, and host.

On i102-104FM, Hector and Hector performed The Tommy and Hector Exhibition.

Tiernan was also included in the last episode of the sitcom Father Ted as suicidal priest Father Kevin.

Early life

Tiernan was born in Carndonagh on June 16, 1969, the son of a mother from County Limerick and a father from County Kerry. He and his family moved to Navan as a youth; after stints in London and Zambia, he attended St Patrick's Classical School, where his classmates included Hector hEochagáin and Dylan Moran. He later attended Garbally College in Ballinasloe.

Personal life

Tiernan married Yvonne McMahon, his partner and boss, on September 9, 2009 in County Monaghan; the couple had been together since December 2002.

Career

Tiernan has appeared on The Late Late Show several times. He has appeared on several occasions on the Late Show with David Letterman in the United States. He has appeared on Michael McIntyre's Comedy Roadshow, Dave Mack's One Night Stand, QI, and Laughs in the Park, alongside Eddie Izzard and Ross Noble.

Tiernan plays a young priest whose suicide attempt is foiled by Ted at a festival called "It's Great Being a Priest" in "Going to America," the clerical sitcom Father Ted's last episode. He's later cured of depression by the "Theme from Shaft," but he relapses after overhearing the Radiohead song "Exit Music (For a Film)" from the previous year.

Tiernan played Ed Blewitt, an underachiever who works in an east London video rental store, in the 1999 Channel 4 sitcom Small Potatoes. It lasted for 13 episodes in two seasons before coming to an end in 2001.

Tiernan and Hector hEochagáin formed as a radio pair on The Tommy and Hector Show on i102-104FM in 2008, months before on The Late Late Show, who hinted at a desire to be on the radio. Tiernan said, "I've always wanted to have a lot of craic on the radio." What better way to have a mountain of demonition than to host a party with my best friend." Following the success of their show on iRadio Northwest, the show has now migrated to 2FM's national slot of Saturday, 10am-12pm.

Tiernan appeared in Vicar Street, Dublin, for his 200th performance, in front of a huge audience of 1,000 people.
