Tommy Stewart Career

Career

He played in local bands Bad Axe, Kody Lee, and Damage Inc. in the 1980s.

Tommy Scott Stewart (then known as Tommy Scott Stewart) joined Halloween in 1989 and produced "The Vicious Demo" (also known as "Vivicious Demonstration"), which was first available on cassette in 1990 and was on display at their shows. The songs were later released as "bonus tracks" on the band's remastered 2001 release No One Gets Out (reissued by Molten Metal U.S.A.). In 1990, he left the band.

In 1993, he formed Lillian Axe, a glam rock band, and appeared in their 1993 debut Psychoschizophrenia. Following the band's Psychoschizophrenia tour in the mid-1990s, the band started various side projects, one being The Bridge by then vocalist Ron Taylor, where Tommy played drums on the majority of the album.

Stewart was Godsmack's first drummer. Sully Erna, the Godsmack frontman, appeared in Lillian Axe and Sully was touring with his old band Strip Mind. He joined Godsmack in 1995, left for a short time, and returned in 1998 shortly after the band's debut album was released. Godsmack and Awake were two of his multi-platinum best-selling albums. Sully Erna co-wrote the single "Bad Religion" for the band's self-titled debut album. Stewart appeared on the band's third studio album Faceless after his departure in 2002. He left the band in 2002 due to personal differences. The break-up has been described as amicable, but Erna, a drummer and also recorded the drums on his debut album, admits that "I had a very clear vision of where I wanted to go with music, but it came with him having no involvement in the project."

Stewart performed with ex-Van Halen and Extreme vocalist Gary Cherone's band Tribe of Judah briefly after leaving Godsmack.

Pete Murray and guitarist Neil Godfrey of Ultraspank joined him in 2002 to create Lo-Pro. Lo-Pro was signed to Staind and Aaron Lewis' record label 413 Records (a Geffen Records affiliate), but the band was disbanded after one album.

Rusty Wright Blues performed drums on the CD Ain't No Good Life in January 2005. The CD was released in August 2006 and it contains 13 songs in a blues/southern rock style. Tommy and Rusty were old bandmates from many previous projects, but this was the first time they were doing the blues genre. Tommy Wright appears on Rusty Wright as a guest drummer during casual dates.

Stewart appeared on stage with Pennsylvania-based alternative rock band Fuel as a replacement drummer in mid-2005 after the band parted ways with longtime drummer Kevin Miller, despite Little interest from Lo-Pro's touring behind their debut album. After Brett Scallions' departure in 2006, he also helped guitarist and chief songwriter Carl Bell and bassist Jeff Abercrombie audition singers. Stewart was unable to attend the recording of the Fuel album Angels & Devils due to other commitments, but after the album was completed, it was not confirmed. Stewart appeared with the band from May 2007 to early 2008.

Since Fuel hasn't been touring for a while, Stewart joined Everclear, replacing Brett Snyder on drums in August 2008. Stewart left Everclear in 2009 after the band's 2009 release In A Different Light, when the majority of the band lineup was jettisoned by Art Alexakis. He started working with Lo-Pro in late 2009 to complete their two launches, the Letting Go EP and The Beautiful Sounds of Revenge.

The United Nations' current initiative for Tommy is S.U.N. Something Unto Nothing (Something Unto Nothing) with singer Sass Jordan, bassist Michael Devin, and guitarist Brian Tichy. In 2012, Marty O'Brien was substituted by bassist Devin.
