Tim Ferriss Career

Career

Ferriss founded BrainQUICKEN, an internet-based nutritional supplement company, in 2001, while still working at his previous employer. In 2010, he sold the bodyQUICK business, then known as BodyQUICK, to a London-based private equity firm. He has stated that the 4-Hour Workweek was based on this time.

Ferriss has been an angel investor and advisor to startups.

He invested or advised in such startups as StumbleUpon, Posterous, Evernote, DailyBurn, Shopify, Reputation.com, Trippy, and TaskRabbit. He is a pre-seed money advisor to Uber, co-founded by Garrett Camp, the founder of StumbleUpon, which Ferriss also recommended.

Ferriss invested $250,000 in Shyp in 2013, establishing a syndicate on AngelList. Ferriss' backers raised over $500,000, while Shyp's raised over $2.1 million. Shyp stopped operations in 2018 and laid off all its workers.

Ferriss Publishing, a Ferriss Publishing company, launched Tim Ferriss Publishing in November 2013. Rolf Potts' first book, Vagabonding, was published. Ego is the Enemy and The Obstacle Is by Ryan Holiday, Daily Rituals by Mason Curty, and What I Learned by Jim Paul and Brendan Moynihan's Enemy.

Ferriss was one of the world's top angel investors in technology in 2015, according to CNN, who said he was "one of the world's top angel investors in technology."

Ferriss also took a long break from new investment in 2015. He cited the strain of the job and the feeling that his impact was "minimal in the long run," and said he planned to spend time on his writing and media projects. "After effectively retiring" from angel investing 2 years ago," he said in 2017, he had no practical reason to be in the Bay Area."

Ferriss has published five books, The 4-Hour Body (2007, expanded version 2009), The 4-Hour Chef (2010), The 4-Hour Chef (2012), Tools of Titans (2016), and Tribe of Mentors (2017).

The Tim Ferriss Experiment debuted on HLN in December 2013. Ferriss' life hacking and speed learning techniques were the subject of the series. Although thirteen episodes were released, only a small number of them were broadcast on television. Ferriss also hosted Fearless's 2017, where he spoke to executives from various industries about success and innovation.

Ferriss has raised funds for the Center for Psychedelic and Consciousness Research at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and the Center for Psychedelic Research at Imperial College London. Ferriss has provided at least $2 million for scientific trials into psychedelic drugs since 2016.

"Why you should identify your fears rather than your goals" was Tim Ferriss' Ted talk in 2017.

Forbes praised Tim's "4-Hour" advice in 2019 because it supports the belief that people's happiness is more about "figuring out how to most effectively package their shortcuts and fake-outs" than real achievement.

In a 2020 interview with GQ, he reevaluated his earlier beliefs, saying that "not everything that is meaningful can be measured."

Ferriss continues to produce episodes of The Tim Ferriss Show, an interview-centered podcast that has been running since April 22, 2014.

A man who saved up enough money to RETIRE at the age of 36 reveals how to amass his fortune and quit working for good

www.dailymail.co.uk, March 21, 2024
Yaron Goldstein, 36, obtained his PhD in computational and applied mathematics in 2012 before moving to Boston Consulting Group, Google, and Meta. During an internship in New York City, he'd run into a Wall Street investment advisor who'd become something of an unofficial mentor early in his career. The advisor recommended that he read books, including Tim Ferriss' 4-Hour Workweek, which compelled him to consider the relationship between happiness and money. "This guy is making a good case for: Probably 40 years from now, I don't want to be the guy who concentrates his entire life on doing a career," he said.

Experts weigh in on viral 30-30-30 weight loss method touted by biohacker Gary Brecka - who helped UFC boss Dana White drop 40LBS

Tim Ferriss' book, The 4-Hour Body, which was published in 2010, included the morning routine. Since being praised by biohacker Brecka (left), more than a decade has gone viral. The method calls for 30 grams of protein within 30 minutes of waking up and 30 minutes of steady-state cardiovascular exercise, such as walking. Dietitians weighed in on the program, and although they weren't opposed to certain aspects of it, they weren't convinced it was the holy grail of weight loss. However, TikTok customers who have tried it say it works.
