Tim Walz Life

Timothy James Walz (born April 6, 1964) is an American politician who serves as Minnesota's 41st governor, and has been in office since January 2019.

He served as the US Representative for Minnesota's 1st congressional district from 2007 to 2019. He was a member of the Democratic–Labor Party.

The district, which runs along the entire border with Iowa, includes Rochester, Austin, Winona, and Mankato. He was first elected in 2006, defeating six-term Republican incumbent Gil Gutknecht.

He was reelected five times and served on the Agriculture Committee, Armed Services Committee, and Veterans' Affairs Committee.

Walz served on the Congressional-Executive Commission on China. Walz declared in March 2017 that he would not run for reelection to Congress but rather run for Governor of Minnesota.

Walz was elected to the governorship on November 6, 2018, defeating Republican nominee Jeff Johnson, who was also the 2014 nominee.

Personal life

In 1994, Walz and his partner Gwen married. They lived in Mankato, Minnesota, for nearly 20 years before deciding to Saint Paul with their two children on his election as governor.

During a storm in 2016, Walz' brother Craig was killed by a falling tree. He was saved by his wife Julie and their son Jacob, who suffered severe injuries but recovered.

Walz is Lutheran.

Walz graduated from Butte High School in a class of 25 students. He earned a bachelor of science degree in social science education from Chadron State College in 1989. He began teaching at the Pine Ridge Indian Reservation in South Dakota. In the People's Republic of China, he accepted a teaching job. He returned to teaching at Mankato West High School as a geography teacher and football coach.

Walz and his partner, Gwen, ran Educational Travel Adventures, transporting high school juniors and seniors in China on summer educational trips.

On Thursday, VP Kamala Harris will fly to Minnesota for the first time as a serving president or vice president

www.dailymail.co.uk, March 14, 2024
Multiple insiders have confirmed that the appearance is the next leg in a vice president's cross-country tour. Following the Supreme Court's historic decision that brought Roe vs. Wade back, the 59-year-old has risen to prominence as the adamant proponent of abortion rights. She has been the most vocal defender in a still supportive government, and as a result, she began her 'Fight for Reproductive Rights' tour in January. With the upcoming General Election just months away, she will become the first vice president to fly to such a location, trouncing all US presidents as well. The clinic's exact location is unknown as of this writing.

Since Minneapolis approved a minimum wage for drivers, Uber and Lyft threaten to leave the entire state of Minnesota

www.dailymail.co.uk, March 8, 2024
Uber and Lyft warned that operations in Minneapolis and Minnesota would cease as a whole on May 1, the same day the increase goes into place. Mayor Jacob Frey intends to veto the law, but the city council approved enough to ensure that a veto could be overruled. The act was passed by 9-4 and guaranteed drivers $1.4 per mile and 51% per minute, with motorists selling wheelchair-accessible cars costing $1.81 per mile.

Two police officers were killed in a domestic callout shooting out, where paramedic was also shot down, and a former Minneapolis council candidate crows that he "doesn't feel sorry."

www.dailymail.co.uk, February 23, 2024
On Sunday, former council candidate Zach Metzger took to Instagram to say that the police officers were shot and killed alongside an EMT during a domestic conflict. Cops Paul Elmstrand and Matthew Ruge, both 27, as well as firefighter and paramedic Adam Finseth, 40, were killed. Shannon Gooden, 38, was convicted of shooting and killing himself. Activist Metzger ran for the Democrats in Ward 13 of city council last year but lost last year.
