Timothy Darrell Russ (born June 22, 1956) An American actor, film producer, screenwriter, and singer.

He is best known for his appearances on Star Trek: Voyager as Frank on Samantha Who? and Principal Franklin, a recurring character on Nickelodeon's live-action teen sitcom iCarly.

Early life, family and education

Russ was born in Washington, D.C., on June 22, 1956 to a government employee mother and a U.S. Air Force officer father. He spent a part of his childhood in Turkey. He attended his senior year of high school at Rome Free Academy, which he graduated in 1974. He obtained a degree in theater arts from St. Edward's University. He attended graduate school at Illinois State University, where he was inducted into the Illinois State University Hall of Fame.

He had many dogs in his youth.

Russ appeared in "Kentucky Rye" in 1985 as "Officer #2." He made a brief appearance in Spaceballs as the trooper who yells, "We ain't found shit!" With an afro comb, you can "comb" the desert.

Russ has been active in the Star Trek franchise as a voice and film actor, writer, producer, and producer. Before landing the role as the main character in Star Trek: Voyager's first episode in January 1995, he appeared in several minor roles. In 1987, Russ was screen-tested for the role of Geordi La Forge on Star Trek: The Next Generation before he assumed Tuvok. Russ joined Voyager as a dedicated Trekkie with a wealth of knowledge of Vulcan lore and has performed the following roles in the Star Trek universe: he was sent by the narrator and he's been involved in the Star Trek franchise:

Russ co-wrote the story for the Malibu Comics Star Trek: Deep Space Nine #29 and 30, with Mark Paniccia. Russ appeared on voice acting roles as Tuvok for the computer games Star Trek: Voyager and Star Trek: Elite Force II. Russ is also the producer and one of the creators of the fan film Star Trek: Of Gods and Men, the first third of which was released in December 2007, with the remaining two-thirds released in 2008.

In The Highwayman, Russ' name, D. C. Montana, was a nod to Trek author D. C. Fontana.

In 1990, he appeared in a Freddy's Nightmares episode.

In Star Trek: Renegades, Russ produced and co-starred, and in 2013 and 2014 reprised his role as the voice of Tuvok in the massively multiplayer online game Star Trek Online.

In Christina Applegate's ABC comedy Samantha Who? Russ appeared as Frank, a sarcastic doorman. Principal Ted Franklin appeared in Nickelodeon's show iCarly from 2007 to 2009, and appeared for six seasons. On an episode of Hannah Montana, "I Am Hannah, Hear Me Croak," he portrayed a doctor.

In 2014, Russ received an Emmy Award for his FBI's Los Angeles Field Office's public service ads on intellectual property theft and cyberbullying.

In the 2015 Bethesda Game Studios video game Fallout 4, he played Captain Kells.

Russ has been a lifelong guitarist and a performer.
