The environment committee of Great Yarmouth Borough Council met to discuss a revived effort to achieve a 'avenue feel' along the historic South Quay. The council has been granted £40,000 in Town Deal government funds to replace those dugs that failed to prosper ten years ago. It's part of a larger initiative to 'improve the natural environment around the borough.' Fruits that are too large may be used as'missiles,' and yelled at people, according to the council's health and safety team. According to the council, only trees that pass the'small fruit test' will be planted.' The council officers said they had been given the warning that fruit could be used as missiles, so they only placed them in the St John's Walled Garden, not on pavements. Ornamental cherry trees with slivered fruit are planned for the quayside and promenade to keep people safe.
