Career

On April 14, 2013, Thomas Sanders became "Foster Dawg," named after his first dog, Foster. Stewie Griffin of Family Guy from a drive-thru was his first Vine to go viral, resulting in continued success on the website. He later rebranded his show to "Thomas Sanders." In October 2013, his channel on Vine attracted 1 million viewers. His most popular on Vine was the Narrating People's Lives collection, which also known as Storytime, where he met random strangers, comically narrated everyday life of their children, and displayed their reactions. Pranks with Friends, Pokémon Pranks, Misleading Compliments, and Shoutout Sunday, among other things, are among the other Vine series he is known for. Sanders' Vine account had more than 5 million followers by April 2015, making Thomas Sanders the 17th most followed Viner at the time.

Sanders revealed on Twitter that it would not be ending Vine at the end of 2016, and that Vines will continue to be produced until the app's last day. Sanders had 8.3 million followers when he was closed down on January 17, 2017. Since that time, his short videos, now known as the Sanders Shorts, were the first released on Instagram, where he now has 2.5 million followers as of November 2018.

Sanders appeared on The View as a guest on Vine on February 24, 2015, where he was filmed discussing his fame on Vine, and one of his Vines was included in The Ellen DeGeneres Show in their segment Vine after Vine. Sanders has worked with Viners such as Vincent Marcus, Brandon Calvillo, and Amymarie Gaertner, as well as various celebrities from Sean Bean, Nicolle Wallace, Stacy London, Nick Pitera (with whom he worked on a series of Vines, Unexpected Duets), Joanne Harris, Dan and Phil, Adam Pascal, and Zach Arthur, all the main actors from Hamilton, Teen Titans Go! Among other things, Steven Universe and Steven Universe.

Sanders' official YouTube account was launched on March 15, 2009. Since amassing a following on Vine, he began posting more often on YouTube. During 2015, he had his first YouTube collaborations consisting of pranks, games, and challenges. His subscriber number grew at a slower rate in 2014, with approximately 80,000 subscribers at the end of the year. Since that time, his user number has been steadily growing, with 100,000 subscribers by April 2015 and more than 700,000 subscribers at the end of 2015.

Sanders announced on Twitter that his Vine content would be focusing on his YouTube channels from now on to produce more variedly formatted material from the second half of this year. His channel has 3.49 million viewers as of October 2021.

On October 29, 2018, he launched "Thomas Sanders & Friends," which would be devoted to the monthly Sanders Shorts compilations and the unscripted, guest-oriented shows he had seen on his main channel. As well as his music video clips, the main channel would be devoted solely to scripted series and shows. As of August 2021, his second channel has 396,000 viewers.

Thomas Sanders has been running Sanders Sides, co-written with Joan S., in which he addresses personal or existential questions with four main characters, collectively referred to as the titular "Sanders Sides" on YouTube. Sanders Sides is a series of two seasons, with a total of 30 episodes released on a different schedule in May 2020. From October 19, 2016, to July 19, 2017, season 1 has 17 episodes. Season 2 began on September 1, 2017, and it has 13 episodes as of May 2020. Patton, Roman, and Logan are influenced by characters that have previously appeared on Vine, such as the Prince Guy, and the Teacher Guy respectively. It is a spin-off from the Vine/Sanders Shorts series. Sanders is usually depicted on both directions. Sanders Sides has occasionally featured guest stars like Lilly Singh or Butch Hartman, who, apart from appearing as himself, created an animated sequence exclusively for Sanders Sides, where Thomas and his Sides became cartoon characters. Tara Strong, who had already appeared in several Vines and Sanders Shorts, appeared in Hartman's film as a vocalist. Sanders Asides, a companion series to the main story, was released on November 22, 2019. In Sanders' words, the Sides in lighter stories in shorter episodes were the subject of a separate story that was not directly related to the main plot.

Thomas' brain's "physical representations" of his mind and depict various aspects of Thomas' personality. Each episode usually begins as an ordinary vlog about a certain topic or a mystery. The series is mainly comedic with some more dramatic elements.

Sanders has worked in musical theater at the Gainesville Community Playhouse, including Hot Mikado (2007), Singin' in the Rain (2011), Into the Woods (2014), and Les Misérables (2014). Sanders appeared in Heathers: The Musical as J.D. in 2015. In a production in Orlando, the cast member appeared. Sanders performed in 17 cities around the United States and Canada, including Toronto and New York City, from August 8 to September 2, 2016. He wrote Ultimate Storytime, written by him and based on his Vine series Narrating People's Lives. Sanders was portrayed as the understudy for The Beast in Beauty and the Beast in 2019.

Though Sanders is often described as a baritone, he actually sees himself as a bassist. He has mainly performed on Vine and YouTube. He has performed in a number of genres but has demonstrated a preference for jazz music, naming Nat King Cole as one of his favorite artists. He has performed with dodie, Jon Cozart, Ben J. Deedee Magno HallAdam Pascal and AJ Rafael are among Pierce, Deedee Magno Halladam Pascal and AJ Rafael. On December 21, 2013, he released Merry Christmas, his first EP; it consisted of Christmas songs. Terrence Williams Jr., Nicole Visco, Jay Harper (also known as JayIsJo) and Leo Anderson (also known as Leo the Giant) released the soundtrack of his Ultimate Storytime stage musical in 2016. Sanders' latest original song "The Things We Used to Share," inspired by true events in Sanders' life, was released on YouTube on July 22, 2017. In 2018, more singles were followed by the unveiling of a new EP.
