Thomas Doherty (born 21 April 1995) is a Scottish actor and singer best known for his roles as Sean Matthews in the Disney Channel musical film The Lodge and Harry Hook in the Descendants film franchise.

Early life
Doherty was born in Edinburgh on April 21, 1995, and he grew up in the city. He has an older brother and younger sister, as well as his parents, who are both in the banking industry. He attended Royal High School in Edinburgh.
Doherty studied musical theatre at The MGA Academy of Performing Arts in Edinburgh after high school. He graduated in July 2015 and started a new role with Olivia Bell Management in London.

Career
Doherty waited tables at Edinburgh's Tigerlilly restaurant after his 2015 graduation. Doherty divided his time off from work at the Edinburgh Fringe to auditioning for Disney Channel's The Lodge. He was given the role of Sean Matthews in The Lodge, but he had to do extensive mountain biking preparations to prepare for the role. The Lodge was shot in Belfast, Northern Ireland. He said he was able to play the role as a Scot, but he toned down his accent to better accommodate the viewers in all 108 countries that The Lodge broadcast in. In December 2016, the Lodge was revived for its second series, which began in February 2017.
Doherty auditioned for Descendants 2 in 2016 and was portraying Harry Hook, Peter Pan's son, Captain James Hook. Descendants 2 was shot in Vancouver, Canada, in 2016 and premiered on Disney Channel on July 21, 2017. In the third part of the Disney Channel family's Descendants 3 series, he reprised his role as Harry Hook. Doherty was named one of the world's 50 Fittest Boys in August 2017.
