The Dogg Life

Martin Morocky (born 31 March 1983), also known as The Dogg or (King TeeDee), is a Namibian musician.

His debut album, Shimaliw' Osatana, received mixed reviews in 2004. He's considered a kwaito performer. The Dogg was a member of the Omalaeti O'Swapo, who released one album in 2004.

His music is enjoyed around the world, including South Africa, Botswana, Angola, Zambia, and Zimbabwe.

The Dogg has appeared in France, England, and Canada.

Channel O has given him honors and nominations. He is both a nationally recognized artist and one of the top-selling artists in the country as well as one of the country's highest-sellers. The Dogg is the owner of the Mshasho Productions record label and the associated Mshasho Clothing.

Early life

The Dogg began formal education at Onayena Primary School in Onayena, a village in east Ondangwa, where he has been living since returning from exile in Zambia in 1989. Morocky is the youngest of four siblings. His aspiration as a child was to become a mechanical engineer, but music remained a dormant passion. He moved to Windhoek City to complete his secondary education at Khomasdal's Augustineum Secondary School in 1997. After graduating from high school, Morocky decided to pursue a Science degree at the University of Namibia. After one academic year to pursue a career in music, he left the university.

The Dogg Career

Musical career

In his high-school days, the Dogg used to perform at school concerts. When he was in grade nine, he and his longtime friend Joe Basson, now known as Auntie Sousa, formed Amasilkies, a kwaito dance group. He began performing as a backup artist, a dancer, and he even opened shows for his long-known cousin Killa B and Jossy Joss before embarking on a career in music. In addition, Mzekeze, Malaika, Mafikizolo, Mandoza, Brown Dash, Brickz, and Ishmael performed. He came to fame after the unveiling of his hit single "Jesus Otati," a kwaito-gospel song created by Elvo in 2003.

"Jesus Otati" (which means "Jesus is saying") opened the door for Morocky's career. Due to the roughness in his voice, he earned him comparison to South African kwaito star Mandoza, which was likened to Mandoza's. His voice was also compared to American rapper DMX, who is also known as The Dog, from which Morocky presumably obtained his stage name. The Dogg was voted Artist of the Year and Best Kwaito song at the 2003 Sanlam-NBC Music Awards because of "Jesus Otati"'s success. Mshasho Productions was founded in 2003 and has since gained a following in 2004 after his second album.

The Dogg met and befriended promising artist Gazza, who had just returned to Namibia from South Africa studies, who was struggling to compile his album. The two bands began recording together, with the help of Elvo they recorded "Ghetto Life," a Gazza song. This song's credits would later engender tension between the two artists. The two musicians eventually signed solo recording contracts with RC-Ghetto Records, a kwaito company. The Dogg debuted on his debut album "Perpeto Tromentos" later this year, a critically acclaimed hit. The Dogg was on display at Gazza's hit "Shidolo," which went on to be very popular and won an award for Best Collaboration at the 2004 Sanlam-NBC Music Awards. He debuted his debut album, Shimaliw' Osatana, in February 2004 under RC-Ghetto. It was the first full-length kwaito album in his region and received the award for Best Selling Album at the 2004 Sanlam-NBC Music Awards. Elvo, who by then became The Dogg and Gazza's mentor, dominated the album.

Morocky' second studio album, Take Out Yo Gun, came out later this year. Mshasho Productions is a Japanese music company that produces music. At the 2005 Sanlam-NBC Music Awards, the lead single from the album, "The Dogg Is Back," received accolades for Best Kwaito song and Best Video. At the 2005 Sanlam-NBC Music Awards, Morocky will win the Artist of the Year award for the third time in three years. Any artist who began discriminating against Sanlam-NBC's awarding system was rewarded with eyebrows by the Artist of the Year award. This case will result in bad blood between The Dogg and music partner Gazza, who critics suspect was robbed of the award.

During his studies at University of Namibia, Morocky signed Sunny Boy, the first artist to his Mshasho label, who he encountered while studying at the University of Namibia. Sunny turned down a recording request from Gazza before signing with The Dogg. The Dogg and Gazza became embroiled in a rooted debate that would later turn sour, not allowing the two couples to work together in the future. Sunny Boy's decision to sign with Mshasho, which Gazza said was a betrayal because he had intended to bring him to his Gazza Music Productions. Fans took sides after the news broke on televisions. A number of other topics appeared, including an argument over the Sanlam-NBC Artist of Year award, which was unfairly awarded to The Dogg.

Introducing TeeDee, Morocky's third album, was released in May 2006. Jay Malgas co-produced the entire album with The Dogg. The Dogg also introduced his label's artist (OmPuff, Sunny Boy, Tre and Nasti), who appear on the record. At the 2006 Sanlam-NBC Music Awards for Best Collaboration and Best Afro-pop, the first single, "Baby Don't Go," received two awards. It also received two awards at the 2006 Namibian Music Awards for Best Collaboration and Best Single. In 2006, the Dogg received the award for Best Hip Hop Song at the Sanlam-NBC Music Awards. It was nominated and received the award for Best Newcomer at the Channel-O Spirit of Africa Video Awards in 2007.

In 2007, the Dogg continued to enjoy his music career, he appeared in Europe at the start of the year and led various tours around Namibia with his Mshasho crew. Despite the success of his last album, Introducing TeeDee, he was strongly accused of selling out. With the introduction of You Can't Ignore, a comeback masterpiece that was compared to his first and second albums for its hardcore beats and dark lyrics, he proved critics wrong. The album was well-received, and Elvo's entire album was self-produced under Elvo's mentorship, with only two songs from DJ Kboz.

DJ Kboz produced "Can You Feel It," the album's first single. Tre Van Die Kasie, a Mshasho artist, appears in the film. The song became a hit in Namibia and beyond, winning an award at the 2008 Channeol O Music Video Awards for the category Best Kwatito Video. At the 2007 Sanlam-NBC Music Awards, it also received Song of the Year and Best Single. The album received its fourth award for Artist of the Year at the same ceremony in 2007. In five years, the Dogg has received this award four times in a row. "Get Sum More," produced by DJ Kboz, and the most awaited rapper at the time Qonja, was another hit song. The song was a hit in clubs. It was named Best Collaboration 2008 Namibian Music Awards. "My Girl" a hit on the charts, also won Best Single at the same awards. The album's success made it possible for The Dogg to win the People's Choice Award at the same awards. In 2009, Channel O Music Video Awards in the category Best Kwaito Video recognized the video for "Hands Up," but it was disqualified by Gazza's "Passop." On "He He He" and Jericho on "Hands Up," the Dogg also visited Gazza.

This Is My Time, the Dogg's fifth studio album, was released on September 3, 2009. With Elvo's help, the Dogg produced the entire album himself. By the Nigerian Hip-Hop World Awards in March 2009, The Dogg was nominated for "African Artist of the Year" for "African Artist of the Year." The award ceremony, which was clandestine and never revealed who the winner was and denied nominating the rapper. The activists made a contentious claim about who he was and where he came from. When asked about the controversy, Dogg said it was amusing to nominate a musician you do not know. The Dogg was chosen to be the first celebrity in the Big Brother Africa 4 house. He entered the house on Friday (16th week of the show) and left on Sunday 18 (week 6 of the show). He appeared in "Forget" with Namibian singer Ricardo, and he also appeared in the eviction show.

On the 30th of April 2010, the Dogg's sixth studio album, The Power of 7 – Elevating Elevators, was released. The album was criticized for its poor track ranking and its ever-repeating sole production of The Dogg, which makes the album seem similar to its predecessors. He revealed in November of that year that he was busy on an album with rapper Qonja. The two rappers collaborated on Lets Celebrate, a short album that was released on Mshasho Records on December 16, 2010. The album, produced by The Dogg and Elvo, features hits such as "Let's Celebrate" with TeQuila, "Be My Shepherd" with KK and Lil' D, and "Merry Christmas" by KK and Lil' D.

On July 2, Mshasho's seventh studio album, The Deception, was released. It was entirely manufactured by The Dogg and features well-known artists. "Tromentos" and Zambian singer JK appear on the album "End of Time," and both songs feature Sunny Boy. OmPuff, a Mshasho artist, also appeared on "End of Time."

The Dogg revealed via his Facebook fan page that The Deception would be followed by a part two album shortly, while still announcing the name of the forthcoming album but not specifying when or not it would be released: "MY NEW SINGLE FROM DDECEPTION PART 2 WILL MUTE AFRICA."PAKAMISH
