Teal Swan (born Mary Teal Bosworth; June 16, 1984) is an American spiritual instructor and YouTuber who has self-published many books.

Swan's critics have dubbed her "the Suicide Catalyst" after her diction on suicide as "the reset button," which may have contributed to the suicides of two of her followers.

Teal Swan Career

Career

In 2011, she published the book The Sculptor in the Sky and launched her YouTube channel. She held her first event, a "synchronization workship," at a Salt Lake City recital hall in summer 2011, attracting around twenty people.

In a Cleveland-area columnist Regina Brett's blog in 2015, Swan was mentioned.

Participants are often encouraged to imagine their own deaths, with occasional suicide. Lebo Diseko of the BBC cited Swan's view on suicide in 2019: a quote from Lebo Diseko:

"In the video, Swan encourages those who are feeling suicidal to seek medical attention, but goes on to say that, for some people, it will not help long-term." Suicide can be seen instead as "our safety net or our re-set button, which is always open to us." People will be able to put the idea aside and instead focus on what they can do to make themselves feel better in the present," she claims.

Hunger of the Pine, Swan's first book, was published in October 2020.
