Tanaya Beatty (born February 12, 1991) is a Canadian actress.

In the forthcoming HBO miniseries Lewis and Clark, she is known for her role as Rachel Black in The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 1 and her starring roles as Jessica Finch and Caitlin Javier.

Early life

Tanaya Beatty was born in Vancouver, British Columbia, on February 12, 1991. Beatty's mother is of Awaetlatlatla First Nations descent, and her father is of Himalayan descent. An Italian family adopted and raised her. Beatty spent her youth in British Columbia's interior, including Midway, Nelson, and Grand Forks.

Career

Beatty graduated from the Vancouver Film School in December 2010 after successfully completing the full-time Essentials and Acting Course. She obtained a certificate from a social work program prior to this.

Beatty has been included in the group of Native American actresses with "both the talent and beauty to be A-List," and she has been cast in the role of Sacagawea in the forthcoming HBO miniseries Lewis and Clark, which has been in development hell since 2016. In Hostiles, she appeared opposite Christian Bale and Wes Studi. She plays a leading role in Through Black Spruce, Joseph Boyden's sequel to the same name.
