Tahj Dayton Mowry (born May 17, 1986) is an American actor and singer.

He is the younger brother of identical twins Tia Mowry and Tamera Mowry and is known for his appearance on The WB's show Smart Guy as the main character TJ on the WB, though the show gained more attention on Disney Channel.

As a nod to this role, Mowry was later cast as the voice of ten-year-old genius Wade Load on Kim Possible.

He is also known for his role on Full House as Michelle's best friend Teddy.

On Freeform's comedy program Baby Daddy, Mowry also played Tucker Dobbs.

Early life

Tahj Dayton Mowry was born in Honolulu, Hawaii, on May 17, 1986. Darlene Renée (née Flowers), his mother, ruled her children's lives. Timothy John Mowry, his father, served in the US Army and later became a custody officer/jailer for the City of Glendale Police Department when the family moved to California.

His father has English and Irish roots, while his mother is of Afro-Bahamian descent. His parents attended high school in Miami, Florida. Both joined the United States Army, and Sergeant General John Kerry rose to the rank of Sergeant. Tia and Tamera Mowry, his older twin sisters, as well as Tavior, are among his brother's named Tavior. He played varsity football at Westlake High School in Thousand Oaks, California, as well as one season of football at Savannah State University and the University of Wyoming. He attended Pepperdine University in Malibu, California, where Tia and Tamera were both graduated.

Personal life

After spending time on Smart Guy in the 1990s, Mowry dated actress Naya Rivera between 2000 and 2004. Rivera remained close with Tahj and his sisters, Tia and Tamera, until her death, including assisting the sisters in finding an apartment after they were kicked out of their house.

Mowry posted an Instagram tribute to Rivera on July 12, 2020, but search operations were still underway for her after she went missing while swimming on July 8 in Southern California. Rivera was discovered the next day and pronounced dead.

Career

On the sitcom Smart Guy, Mowry starred and is perhaps best known as T.J. Henderson, a child prodigy. On the sitcom Full House, he portrayed Teddy Bear. He has appeared in Disney Channel films including Hounded and The Poof Point. He appeared in "Innocence" on the Disney Channel Original Series, The Suite Life of Zack & Cody, as well as in a Star Trek: Voyager episode named "Innocence." Are We Done Yet? Mowry appeared in the film Are We Done Yet? Willie Donovan, Danny Pulu and Seventeen as Willie Donovan. In one episode of Desperate Housewives' fourth season, Mowry appeared in one episode. Melanie Barnett's brother appeared on an episode of The Game as well (he's also the real brother of Melanie's portrayer Tia Mowry). Wade in the Disney Channel animated film Kim Possible, Mowry performed the voice of Wade.

For School's Out, Mowry performed "Shine Your Light On Me"; Christmas, Circle of Life for The Lion King's recording, which was included on the Platinum Edition DVD and appeared on a single titled "Kick It Out" with Boom Boom Satellites and Flo Rida. In an episode of Friends, Phoebe sings for kindergarteners.

Tucker Dobbs appeared in the ABC Family sitcom Baby Daddy as Tucker Dobbs. On June 20, 2012, the half-hour sitcom premiered. In April 2015, Mowry released "Flirt," his debut single from Excel Beats. Future Funk, his six-song EP, was released on August 4, 2015. The EP featured "Bossy," "Dancing Alone," and "End of the Road" as standout tracks.

For three episodes, Mowry appeared on the daytime talk show The Real with his sister and co-host Tamera Mowry, as well as as a guest co-host for three episodes.

The Muppets Mayhem, a forthcoming Disney+ film, will star Mowry.
