Susan Moonsie Career

Life and career

Susan Vashtie Moonsie was born in Trinidad and Tobago on January 21, 1964, the daughter of a conservative school teacher. She grew up in Minneapolis, where she first met Prince at a local discotheque when she was sixteen years old in 1980. With Moonsie and her sister Loreen, Ruffalo & Fargnoli employee Jamie Shoop, he formed a girl group called "The Hookers" in 1981.

Moonsie, set designer Roy Bennett's wife Brenda Bennett, and lead singer Vanity became a member of Vanity 6 in 1982. Moonsie was given a "teen Lolita" image by Prince for shock value, though she was only 16 years old at the time, but the organization was 18 years old when it was established. The group's single "Nasty Girl" had a hit on the US R&B Chart.

Moonsie and Bennett were joined by Patricia "Apollonia" Kotero, who replaced Vanity in the group after lead singer Vanity's departure in 1983. Prince changed the group's name to Apollonia 6, co-starring Apollonia, and had a minor success with the song "Sex Shooter" in 1984. Moonsie performed on some of Prince's hits in the 1980s.

Moonsie has lived in Florida, Trinidad, and Tobago since 2000. Moonsie, a two-year-old mother, and her son, Aaron Mohan, opened Hardy Park Bistro in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, in 2020. She has also worked as a real estate broker.
