Choi Jin-ri (March 29, 1994-October 14, 2019), better known by her stage name Sulli, was a South Korean actress, singer, and model.
Sulli made her debut as a child actress on the SBS historical drama Ballad of Seodong (2005), where she appeared as a supporting cast member.
Following this, she gained a number of guest appearances, including in the television series Love Needs a Miracle (2005) and Drama City (2007), as well as the film Vacation (2006).
She appeared in the independent films Punch Lady (2007) and BA:BO (2008), the former being her first time cast in a significant dramatic role. Sulli came to fame as a member of the girl group f(x) formed in 2009.

Early life
Sulli was born in Busan, South Korea, on March 29, 1994. Sulli, aspired to be a performer, attended Jungbu Elementary School before transferring to Seoul, Korea, where she studied singing, dancing, and acting in fourth grade in order to attend the MTM Academy, a part-time theatre academy where she studied acting, singing, dancing, and acting. She had previously been enrolled in another acting school by her mother at a young age. Choi Jin-ri, which means "the truth" in Korean, was replaced by Sulli at the suggestion of a reporter who felt her birth name was "too Christian" and that people from other faiths would not like it. In one interview, she interpreted her stage name as "pear blossoms in the snow."
Personal life
Sulli dated Dynamic Duo rapper Choiza between September 2013 and March 2017, a period in which both actors suffered with insulting comments and cyberbullying throughout their public relations.
Sulli admitted in October 2018 that she had battled with panic disorder and social anxiety since she was a child. Sulli suffered from severe depression prior to her death.
Career
Sulli began acting in 2005 and was selected to appear in the SBS drama Ballad Seodong. She continued to appear in television dramas and films including Vacation (2006), Punch Lady (2007), The Flower Girl is Here (2006), and BABO (2008).
Sulli appeared in fourth grade at a SM Entertainment audition, during which she performed the S.E.S. Chingu ("Mate") is a song by the artist Chingu ("Mate"). She was officially classified as an S.M. at the time, and after that she had appeared in the audition. With Taeyeon and Tiffany of Girls' Generation, the trainee and the same year advanced to a dormitory. She continued to work there until the debut of Girls' Generation in 2007.
She debuted on September 5, 2009, as a member of the f(x) party, with the song "La Cha Ta."
Sulli appeared in To the Beautiful You in August 2012, based on the popular Japanese shjo manga series Hanazakari no Kimitachie. On August 15, 2012, the drama series began on SBS. Sulli plays Gu Jae-hee, who disguises as a child in order to attend the same academy as her crush. Sulli, a woman known for her long hair, had to cut 60 percent of it to prepare for her role. She went on to win the SBS Drama Awards for her role in the drama.
Sulli and her groupmate Krystal Jung became the new stars of Etude House's makeup company in 2013. Sulli took a break from the South Korean entertainment industry as a result of her continuing negative comments and rumors of her dating Dynamic Duo rapper Choiza, which was not confirmed at the time, as well as false reports of her pregnancy. She agreed with a commentator who said that her greatest success is her social media presence on SNS and that she is an attention seeker. She disagreed with a commenter who said she looked like a "druggie" because of her large dilated children, but that she had researched drug use during method acting for her film Real. And she denied going braless to seek attention, saying that it was more convenient, as well as "more natural and prettier" and that braces were a piece of clothing that she sometimes dresses. "I wish people would look at me and say, 'Well, someone like that exists!' "Accept the difference." She said she had begun to sue once before, but the blogger, a student at a prestigious college, had sent a long letter of apology and she had excused them. However, she has stated that she would not do the same thing again. The cast and producers of another episode on October 14, 2019, still on Monday's schedule, with Sulli's death confirmed later today.
In the second season of the omnibus Netflix series Persona, Sulli was the main protagonist. Mystic Story announced on October 23, 2019, that they had decided to temporarily suspend production as Sulli was filming the second out of five planned episodes for the series when she died.
