Stuart Pankin (born April 8, 1946) is an American actor best known for his role as anchor Bob Charles in Not Necessibly the News and as the voice of Earl Sinclair in Dinosaurs.

Stuart is also known for his role as Commander Edward Plank in the Zenon trilogy films, as well as numerous television shows and films.

Hollywood Knights was one of his nearly three dozen films.

He appeared in Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves, and Arachnophobia, as Jimmy in Fatal Attraction.

Early life and education

Pankin was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on April 8, 1946. He attended Dickinson College, where he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon and Columbia University.

Pankin has been married to actress Joy Pankin since 1974; together they have a son, Andy.

Career

Pankin appeared at St. Vincent Summer Theatre regularly throughout his career and now performs there on a regular basis. Pankin is best known for his appearance on HBO's Not Necessarily the News, as well as voicing Earl Sinclair in the family sitcom Dinosaurs. In Curb Your Enthusiasm, Pankin also played an Orthodox Jew. Pankin has appeared on several television commercials and lend his voice to animated shows as well as appearing in numerous television commercials.

Dudley Laywicker, an asthmatic musician/magician in the Hollywood Knights, was one of Pankin's first film appearances. He starred in Zenon: The Zenon, Zenon: The Zequel, and Zenon: The Plank among his nearly three dozen film appearances. He appeared in Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves, as Wayne Szalinski's brother, and he also appeared in the horror/comedy Arachnophobia as a bossy, self-important lawman.

Pankin also appeared in a series of edutainment 3D films (Encounter in the Third Dimension and Misadventures in 3D) intended for large-screen IMAX theaters. He has been a spokeswoman for infomercials, including for the WalkFit Phase 4 Orthotics shoe insert.

Despite the fact that Pankin is best known for comedies and game show appearances (e.g., The $100,000 Pyramid), he has occasionally appeared in dramatic roles, such as in the thriller Fatal Attraction.
