Stuart Murdoch Life

Stuart Lee Murdoch (born 25 August 1968) is a Scottish writer, filmmaker, and producer as well as the lead singer and songwriter for the Scottish pop band Belle and Sebastian.

Early life

Murdoch's parents encouraged him to take piano lessons as a child, although he claims not to have enjoyed them at the time, but now "appreciates the decision greatly." Murdoch first became interested in music as a radio DJ for Suburban Radio at the University of Glasgow, apart from early musical pursuits (he formed a band with fellow students at age 12, in which he played piano).

He became ill with myalgic encephalomyelitis, or chronic exhaustion syndrome, while attending university for seven years, and was unable to work for seven years. Murdoch said that the loneliness of the years led to him becoming a songwriter: "It was a big desert at the time, a kind of vacuum in my life." These songs came out, and here were these melodies where I could express what I was feeling." Murdoch had largely recovered from his illness and began to look for fellow musicians to form a band, which became Belle & Sebastian in early 1995. The struggle with chronic exhaustion syndrome is chronic fatigue syndrome, according to Belle & Sebastian's album "Nobody's Empire."

Personal life

Murdoch completed the Glasgow Marathon in 1986 in a record of three hours.

Murdoch is a vegetarian. On September 26, 2007, he married longtime girlfriend Marisa Privitera in New York City. Privitera is on the front page of Belle and Sebastian's DVD Fans Only and LP The Life Pursuit. Denny, the family's eldest son, was born in May 2013. Nico, their second son, was born in November 2016.

Tracyanne Campbell, the lead singer of the band Camera Obscura, was dated by Murdoch for three years in the 2000s.

Murdoch was diagnosed with color blindness at an early age and does not drink alcohol. "I love a Scotch whisky but I'm allergic to alcohol," he has said. "It's only been in the last two years." I had eczema, and one of the things I had to do to get rid of it was to quit drinking alcohol.

Murdoch contributed the song "Another Saturday" to the Red Hot Organization's AIDS benefit album Dark Was the Night in 2009. He was one of the first protesters at a march in Glasgow on December 5th, 2009, calling for government action to combat climate change prior to the United Nations Climate Change Conference 2009 in Copenhagen.

The Celestial Café, Murdoch's first memoir, was released in 2010. He wrote and directed God Help the Girl, a film that was released both in print and online in 2012.

Murdoch has been diagnosed with ME, an extremely debilitating and medically inactive disease.

GREG ALLAN, a music critic and 'uncool dad,' presents his must-listen albums for 2022

www.dailymail.co.uk, January 20, 2023
This is the third time I've seen one of my Facebook 'best of' music lists published outside of Facebook's social media page, which is exciting for me. My run is a little late this year, but I don't want to disappoint my readers here at the Daily Mail. One of the bands reached out to me after a slew of reader comments from last year's list, which was...cool. I've decided to imbue this piece with a 2023 feel and give you all a look ahead in the world of music this year.
