Stuart Margolin (born January 31, 1940) is an American film and television actor and producer who received two Emmy Awards for his role on Evelyn "Angel" Martin in the 1970s television series The Rockford Files.
Early life
Margolin was born in Davenport, Iowa, on January 31, 1940. When he was still young, his family moved to Dallas, Texas. Margolin has claimed that he had a "hoodlum" childhood and was kicked out of Texas Public Schools, and his parents took him to a boarding school in Tennessee. His family immigrated to Scottsdale, Arizona, while he attended the school. Margolin was released from reform school and returned to his family, and he wanted to return to Dallas, on his own, to see his friends. His parents made arrangements for him to attend a private school in the city.
Personal life
Margolin is the stepfather of actor Max Martini, costume designer Michelle Martini, and producer/director Christopher Martini.
He is Emmy award-winning producer/writer Arnold Margolin's younger brother; both of them now live in Lewisburg, West Virginia, and appeared in a professional community theater production.
Margolin has been consistently misidentified as the brother of actress Janet Margolin (1943-1993), although the two were not related, as husband and wife in the pilot for Lanigan's Rabbi (1977 TV series Lanigan's Rabbi.
