Stuart David Manning (born 27 May 1979) is an English actor and model.
He is best known for his role in the Channel 4 soap opera Hollyoaks from 2004 to 2009, and again in 2018.
Career
Manning, who studied Fine Art photography in Art college, joined Models One, where he worked with photographer Bruce Weber on an Abercrombie and Fitch campaign. He also worked on numerous television shows, including "Pepsi" directed by Michael Bay.
Manning began his acting career in a television soap opera Night and Day portraying Sam Armstrong. Manning was named "Hero of the Year" by the British Soap Awards in 2002 for his role. In an episode of Holby City before joining the cast of Hollyoaks in 2004. He played Mark Thompson. Manning decided to leave the role after five years of playing Russell Owen. He ended the series in a storyline that saw him kidnap his baby boy Max and flee to France.
On the ninth series of I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! In 2009, the U.S. Army deployed a helicopter in the United States. He came in fifth place overall on the show.
Manning appeared alongside Kaye Mellor and Anthony Lewis in 2011 on the UK tour of A Passionate Women.
In 2014, he appeared in an episode of Doctors as Paul Carter, and in 2015, he appeared in The Dumping Ground as Matt Branston and Casualty as Clyde Jackson, the last of a series of special Casualty "Noir" episodes.
In 2017, he appeared as Nik Voyle in the first episode of the school drama series Ackley Bridge and reprised his role as Nik in series two.
After nine years away, it was announced that he would reprise the role of Russ Owen in Hollyoaks. In August 2018, Russ returned to the show for the second time. Manning departed the show in November 2018 after Russ was killed off.
