Stevie B (born Steven Bernard Hill, 1958) is an American singer, songwriter, and record producer who was instrumental in the late 1980s freestyle and Hi-NRG dance music scene, mainly in Miami.

Personal life

Hill was arrested by Springfield, Massachusetts police officers after his performance in MassMutual Center in Massachusetts due to his outstanding $420,000 in unpaid child care.

In a 2019 interview, comedian Dulcé Sloan revealed Hill to be her uncle.

Early life and career

Stevie B was born in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on April 19, 1958, he worked in everything from car washing to fast food, before winning accolades for his 1987 national club smash, "Party Your Body." It was also the title track of his 1988 debut LP, which eventually went gold. With "I Want to Be The One," "In My Eyes," and "Love Me For Life," he had his first top 40 hits in 1989. He hit the peak of his fame in 1990 with his 1990 album Love & Emotion, with the accompanying single "Because I Love You" charting at number one in the United States for four weeks. Billboard Hot 100 in December 1990. With "I'll Be by Your Side" and the album's title track, he had two other top-five hits from Love and Emotion.

Universal Records in the Philippines had a quasi-greatest hits album in 1995, titled simply "Dream About You." Among other things, it contained singles from his previous albums, including "Funky Melody," "Running Back," and "Waiting for Your Love." "Because I Love You" was also included as a bonus in his Tokyo show, as well as a ballad version of "If You Still Love Me." As a bonus, two new songs were added: "You're the One I'm Concerning" and "Quiereme Por Vida." Two additional versions of "Dream About You" were also available, one without synthesizers as accompaniment with no drums and percussion, and the other called 'Drop Mix', which prominently featured heavy bass guitar and bass drums.

The Best of Stevie B's in 1998 was re-released, highlighting the light dance-pop sound that characterized his career's beginning.

In August 2009, he unveiled The Terminator, which includes the lead single "Running for Miles" and a remastered version of one of his greatest hits, "Spring Love," as well as a video starring Polish model Anita Sikorska.

Stevie B took to Facebook on April 10, 2019 to give a critical commentary about the dearth of freestyle music and the general state of the art.
