Steven Adam Markowitz (born August 19, 1988), better known by his stage name Hoodie Allen, is an American rapper, singer, and songwriter from Plainview, New York.
He began working at Google after graduating from the University of Pennsylvania before deciding to pursue a full-time in music.

Early life
Steven Markowitz and his brother, Daniel, were born on Long Island and raised in a Jewish family in Plainview. He started writing lyrics as a youth and would do raps for his friends at house parties. Markowitz first attended the Long Island School for the Gifted in South Huntington, then went to Plainview, Old Bethpage John F. Kennedy High School.
He pledged the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity while attending the University of Pennsylvania. He also served as defensive back for Penn's sprint football team. He began working with Google as an AdWords Reseller Training (START) program in 2010, after graduating with a degree in marketing and finance in 2010. He will leave at 7:00 AM for a bus ride to the Googleplex in Mountain View, work a full day at Google, return home at 6:00 p.m., answer fan emails, and schedule concerts until 2:00 or 3:00 a.m. "I was so fast, and even when I was at Google, I felt like I was doing two full time jobs." Career
Hoodie Allen was a member of Steve Markowitz and Obey City (Samuel Obey, a childhood friend) on vocals and production respectively. Steven's nickname change was "Hoodie," and he wanted a word that would "stick in people's minds and be a little bit ironic and representative of who I am" so a play off legendary filmmaker Woody Allen was settled on. The Bagels & Beats EP and Making Waves mixtape were Steve and Obey's first two releases. In 2009, Hoodie was nominated for the MTVU's Best Music on Campus Award. The single "UPENN Girls" received a lot of attention. However, Obey City ceased to produce in Hoodie in 2010 for unknown reasons, and Steve began making music with RJ Ferguson (aka RJF), giving himself the name Hoodie Allen. "You Are Not A Robot" by Marina and the Diamonds in June 2010, which sampled "I Am Not a Robot" and debuted at No. 1 in June 2010. 1 on Hype Machine, a web site that gathers the most popular information about music in the world. Hoodie headlined a 15-city tour around North America, with stops in San Francisco, New York City, and Montreal, all supporting act Fortune Family openings. He had worked with The Cataracs, Das Racist, Chiddy Bang, Mike Posner, and RJD2.
Hoodie revealed via Twitter on March 4, 2012 that he would be releasing his first EP, titled All American. He chose this issue because he attributed his rise to the American Dream because the songs featured his best music to date, as well as a neighborhood restaurant with the same name. Hoodie spent five months on the album, creating songs from scratch with his designer, RJF, rather than using sampled beats. Hoodie and Jared Evan joined Aer and Jared Evan on their Cruisin' USA Tour, which began on March 5, 2013. On his Boston, Philly, and NYC shows, G-Eazy joined Hoodie rather than Aer. During the Cruisin' USA Tour, Hoodie led the audience to chant "they wanted to see him on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon." Hoodie started the hashtag "#GetHellonFallon" on Twitter to mobilize his followers in the lead up to Roseland Ballroom. "Show Me What You Made Of," Hoodie's debut studio album, People Keep Talking, was released on May 7, 2014. It premiered with a music video parodying the film Happy Gilmore, as well as fellow rapper D-WHY and Tommy Lee from Mötley Crüe. The single was released on iTunes and debuted as the No. 1 on the charts, and it was one of the most popular albums on iTunes. Overall, there are two songs on the charts.
