Early life
Pororo is a Connecticut native. Steve Porcaro began playing as a drummer under the tutelage of his father Joe Porcaro before learning piano, like his brothers Jeff and Mike. In 1967, his father bought him an organ made by Rheem, a company that specializes in heating and air conditioning. He brought his father down to a Guitar Center to trade in the keyboard for a Farfisa with a Leslie 147 and preamp, which Porcaro described as his "first real rig."
Personal life
On his debut album, The Heartstring Symphony, which was released in 2009, he collaborated with his daughter Heather Porcaro. Heather was included in the "Most Beautiful People" issue of Paper magazine in 2002.
Career
Porno's touring career began with Gary Wright's support for The Dream Weaver album in 1977. Poro and the other original Toto players played with Boz Scaggs before forming Toto.
Portion of Toto's first six albums, with the exception of Isolation. Mike and Jeff's two older brothers were toto's bassist and drummer, as well as session players, while his father Joe was a prolific session percussionist.
Unlike most of his Toto brothers, he didn't provide lead or even backing vocals; he regarded himself as a weak performer, and took lead on two of his earlier albums primarily because the vocal styles of his bandmates, with the exception of Joseph Williams, were not appropriate for his songs. The song "Rosanna" was reportedly inspired by Poro's girlfriend, Rosanna Arquette, but the song's writer, David Paich, and Arquette herself have since denied it.
Both Paich and Arquette confessed on camera that she was the inspiration in a 2022 interview with Ben Mankiewicz.
After the Fahrenheit album in 1987, he left Toto in order to pursue a more full-time songwriting and composition career. Portiono, on the other hand, was still working with Toto in various support capacities, including keyboards, drum looping, synthesizers, and arranging/composing.
Poro created the music for "Human Nature" and created the synthesizer for Michael Jackson's "The Girl Is Mine" as well as playing synthesizer and keyboard on "Stranger in Moscow" from Jackson's HIStory album, as well as performing synthesizer and keyboard on "Stranger in Moscow."
Steve Porcaro produces music for film and television, including the FX television show Justified, among other things.
Poro has been back to Toto for live shows since 2010, when the band and tour in Europe to help Mike Porro. More concerts were announced in Europe.
Poro appeared on Toto XIV, co-writing and singing lead on "The Little Things" and writing/singing lead on the Japan-only bonus cut, "Bend" in 2015. Porno did not return when the band split in 2019 and regrouped in 2020.
