Steve Byrne (born July 21, 1974) is an American stand-up comedian and actor.

He is best known for designing and starring in Sullivan & Son.

Early life and education

Byrne was born in Freehold, New Jersey, and he was born. Byrne grew up in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and went to Hampton High School. He graduated from Kent State University in Kent, Ohio. His mother is Korean and his father is of Irish descent. William is Steve's younger brother.

At Kent State University, he studied theatre.

Personal life

Byrne is married and has two children. Byrne and his family immigrated from Los Angeles to Nashville in 2020.

Career

Byrne was introduced to stand-up comedy while working at Caroline's in New York City. On September 30, 1997, he was the first time he had appeared on stage.

Byrne produced a documentary about Las Vegas headliner, magician, and comedian The Amazing Johnathan, which is also known as Always Amazin' in the early part of 2018. The documentary was selected best documentary film at the Los Angeles Lift Off Festival, Special Mention at the Los Angeles Lift Off Festival, and Vancouver Just for Laughs Film Festival. On YouTube, Always Amazing was released in 2019.

When on the road about his early years in stand-up comedy, Byrne began writing a script from 2017-2018. That film was eventually licensed, and Byrne wrote and directed his first film, The Opening Act, starring Jimmy O Yang, Alex Moffat, and Cedric the Entertainer. The film was released on October 16, 2020.

In 2003, he shot the documentary film 13 or Bust, in which he performed 13 shows in a single night at every comedy club in Manhattan, breaking the record for most sets in a night by a comedian. It's free on iTunes as a podcast.

Comedy Central Presents Steve Byrne's first half-hour special on Comedy Central in 2006, byrne. In 2008, Byrne's Happy Hour became a one-hour special on Comedy Central, titled Steve Byrne's Happy Hour. The Byrne Identity, a one-hour special on Comedy Central, aired on Sunday, July 25, 2010. Byrne appeared on television shows The Real Wedding Crashers and a famous comedian on The Tonight Show ten times. He has appeared on Chappelle's show "Tough Crowd with Colin Quinn," @midnight, "History of the Joke," Mad TV's 300th episode and Super Bowl promos on CBS with Prince and again with Bill Cowher. His stand-up has been seen on The Late Late Show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Carson Daly, BET's ComicView, ABC's Good Morning America, as well as Comedy Central's Premium Blend. He has appeared in The Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal, the HBO US Comedy Arts Festival in Las Vegas, and the TBS Very Funny Festival in Toronto. He has appeared on the showtime comedy series Live Nude Comedy and shot a pilot for the G4 Network based on a Japanese Game Show called Drunken Businessman.

As part of the Standup Showdown on Comedy Central, his Comedy Central Presents Half Hour Special premiered in 2006 and was named as the seventeenth most popular Comedy Central Presenter by followers. On TBS, he was also the champion of the MySpace Standup Or Sitdown contest. He has appeared in several films: The Goods: Live Hard, Sell Hard, starring Jeremy Piven and Will Ferrell; Four Christmases, starring Vince Vaughn and Reese Witherspoon; and Couples Retreat, starring Vince Vaughn and Jon Favreau; He appeared on Conan on July 16, 16 years ago. He has appeared on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and has appeared on it nine times. In 2014, he filmed his third hour special called Champion in New York City, and it's now available on Netflix. He's currently touring and preparing for his fourth hour special, which will be titled, Tell the Damn Joke.

On TBS, Byrne wrote and produced the comedy Sullivan & Son, which premiered in the summer of 2012. TBS announced a second season on Wednesday after a fruitful summer with Season One. With an average of 2.4 million viewers per episode, the show was a hit and was scheduled for a third season with 13 episodes slated for the summer of 2014. According to the show's average, it attracted 2 million viewers. Byrne and the other comedians and co-stars of the show Owen Benjamin, Ahmed Ahmed, and Roy Wood Jr. have performed in favor of Sullivan & Son's thin 2005. In 2006, he performed a show for Comedy Central and the troops at Ft. Irwin. Byrne embarked on his own USO tour of Afghanistan in June 2008, Japan, and Guam in July 2009, and Afghanistan in 2010. In 2013, he returned to the troops on a USO tour with the other comedians from Sullivan and Son to thank the troops. He has appeared on numerous national comedy tours, including The Jameson Comedy Tour, Vince Vaughn's Wild West Comedy Tour, The Camel Cigarettes Sin City Tour, and his own national MySpace tour. He toured nationally with Vince Vaughn and Kevin James in early 2011 to promote the film The Dilemma. He toured on The New Majority Tour in the summer of 2011 with Lisa Lampanelli, Gabriel Iglesias, and Russell Peters. Byrne has been headliners around the country since 2005. He is currently in India preparing for his fourth one-hour special.
