Stefano Jantje Lilipaly (born 10 January 1990) is an Indonesian professional footballer who plays as an attacking midfielder or a winger for Bali United and the Indonesia national team.

Club career

Lilipaly played for the Dutch amateur team RKSV DCG for three years before joining Ethical Club AZ's academy in 2000. He returned to Utrecht the following year and progressed through their youth program. Lilipaly made his first team appearance for Utrecht in August 2011, during VVV-Venlo's inaugural game, and his first appearance in the starting eleven came in January 2012, where he scored the opening goal against PSV. He played five times for Utrecht before moving to Almere City on a free transfer in 2012.

Lilipaly joined Eerste Divise club Almere City on a two-year deal on May 21, 2012. Lilipaly played for his team in the 2012-13 season, finishing 13th in the league with 22 appearances and two goals. In March 2014, he left the club for the second time.

Lilipaly signed for Japanese J2 League club Consadole Sapporo on March 23, 2014. Lilipaly didn't make one appearance with his new club, and then he returned to the Netherlands.

He had been contracted to play in the Eerste Divisie for Telstar. Lilipaly made his debut against Emmen in August 2015, and Lilipaly scored his first goal for Telstar in the 68th minute against Emmen at the BUKO Stadium.

He joined and signed a Cambuur deal in January 2017. In the 2016–17 KNVB Cup, he made his debut as a late replacement against FC Utrecht. He scored his first goal against Helmond Sport on February 3, 2017. Lilipaly was assisting in 3–0 victory over Helmond Sports in this match. He left the club in August 2017 and moved to Indonesia.

He signed a deal with Indonesian Liga 1 team Bali United to play in 2017 Liga 1. Lilipaly made his club debut against Madura United in August, coming on as a replacement for I Made Andhika Wijaya in the 78th minute. Lilipaly scored a brace in Liga 1, winning 6–1 over Arema on October 8th, 2017. He scored in a 3–2 away loss over Perpetu Balikpapan on October 16, 2017. Lilipaly scored the only goal in the 95th minute against PSM Makassar on Monday, the king. With four goals in 15 games, he ended his first season in 2017 in his first season.

In a 2018 AFC Cup match against Philippines club Global, he made his Asian debut for the club on February 27th. Lilipaly scored his first AFC Cup goal for Bali United in the 74th minute of a 3-1 victory over V.League 1 team Thanh Hóa on March 7. In a vote carried out by the Asian Football Confederation, Lilipaly's goal was named the highest priority in the third week of the 2018 AFC Cup.

Lilipaly scored his first goal of the 2018 season on March 24, 2018, defeating PSMS Medan 11-0 in the Liga 1. In a 2–0 win over PS Barito Putera on April 22, 2018, he scored his second league goal for the club, a lob against goalkeeper Aditya Harlan. In May, he scored three more goals in his loss to Sriwijaya (3–4), Mitra Kukar (3–1), and victories over Arema (1–0). Lilipaly finished the season with 12 goals in 22 games.

In a friendly match against Liga Futebol Timor-Leste club Boavista, which resulted in a 4–1 win, Lilipaly scored his first goal of the 2019 season for Bali United. In the first leg of 2018–19 Piala Indonesia quarter-finals, he scored a brace for Bali United over Perpetuja 2–1. Lilipaly scored his first league goal of the 2019 season on July 26th in a 0–2 away victory in Liga 1. Bali United defeated TIRA-Persikabo 1–2 away in TIRA-Persikabo on August 15th, bringing home 31 points from 13 matches played. He had a second brace for Bali United in a 1–2 victory over TIRA-Persikabo. In Bali United's 2–2 draw over Persipura Jayapura on November 11, Lilipaly scored in the second half and give assist in a first goal by Melvin Platje. In Bali United's 3–2 victory over Persib Bandung on November 28, Lilipaly scored in the second half and give another assister, Ilija Spasojevic's.

He had a good season this season, with 30 appearances and 5 goals, as well as helping Bali United win the championship Liga 1 this season. Lilipaly has been a hot topic of discussion in the early part of this year. On December 31, 2020, his deal came to an end. Lilipaly did not join the team when they began preparations on February 8. He played the full 90 minutes in the loss to Bhayangkara on October 23, where he had one assistant, and on November 25, he played the full 90 minutes in the victory to Perpetu.

Lilipaly scored his first league goal of the 2021–22 season on January 13, 2022, in a 0–1 victory in the Liga 1. In victories over Persikabo 1973 (0–3), Bhayangkara (0–3), Persipura (4–1), and draw against PSM Makassar (2–2). He scored in a 1–3 victory over Persik Kediri on March 31, 2022. Lilipaly officially did not renew his deal with Bali United for next season on May 6, 2021, this was because the team didn't agree on the terms that he wanted so badly, causing the team to break down, so he decided not to return. During his time with Bali United in all sports, he earned 119 appearances, 32 goals, and 24 assists, and his club lifted the trophy for the second time.

In the 2022–23 season, Lilipaly was signed for Borneo to compete in Liga 1. Lilipaly made his Borneo debut against PS Barito Putera in the 83rd minute, 2022. Lilipaly scored his first goal in the 2022 President's Cup for the team's 2022 President's Cup in a 1–2 victory over Persija Jakarta at Segiri Stadium three days later. Lilipaly scored a brace for the club in a 3–0 victory over RANS Nusantara and scored in a 4–0 victory over PSS Sleman on July 11, 2022. He has scored a total of four goals in this tournament, as well as helping the team advance to the final round, but Arema lost in the final round.

Lilipaly defeated Arema 3–0 at Segiri Stadium on July 24, 2022, on his first appearance in the league. Lilipaly represented the Netherlands at the youth level, from the under-15s to the under-18s. He was qualified to represent the Netherlands or Indonesia at any international level through his parents; his mother is Dutch and his father Indonesian. Lilipaly obtained the Indonesian citizenship oath in October 2011, thereby making him officially available for selection. When he helped Greg Nwokolo with his full international debut in August 2013, he made his international debut in a 2–0 win over the Philippines.

Lilipaly scored his first international goal for Indonesia in a match against Singapore in the 2016 AFF Championship, which was a late and decisive goal that qualified Indonesia to the semi-finals alongside Thailand. In the second leg semi-finals, Lilipaly also scored against Vietnam, who then advanced to the finals. He was also selected for the 2018 AFF Championship.

Lilipaly was called up by Shin Tae-yong for a friendly match against Bangladesh in May 2022, three years since she last played for the national team. He was called up for the 2023 AFC Asian Cup qualification in Kuwait.
