Stan Shaw (born July 14, 1952) is an American actor.
Early life
He was born in Chicago, Illinois, and his uncle was Sam Cooke and saxophonist Eddie Shaw, as well as Bertha Shaw and saxophonist Eddie Shaw, as well as Uncles of the late soul singers Sam Cooke and Tyrone Davis. Vaan Shaw, a guitarist, is his brother. He is married to Dr. Zoe Shaw, a writer and psychotherapist.
Career
Shaw began his acting debut in the Chicago production of the musical Hair as well as the Broadway revival of The Me Nobody Knows. Via Galactica, Peter Hall's last Broadway performance, was directed by him.
Shaw was a karate, judo, and jujutsu instructor in Chicago before becoming an actor. He is the first black belt in judo and jujutsu, as well as a second dan in karate.
