Sriya Reddy Life

Sriya Reddy (born 28 November 1982) is an Indian film actress who appears in Tamil language films, as well as former VJ and anchor.

Sriya, the former Indian test cricketer, played as a top VJ at SS Music before embarking on an acting career as well.

She appeared in over a dozen Tamil, Telugu, and Malayalam films since her debut in Samurai (2002), with Black, Thimiru, and Kanchivaram proving her best known projects.

Early life

Sriya was born to Bharath Reddy, an Indian cricketer. She began her training at Good Shepherd School and went on to study at Ethiraj College in Chennai. When she was a child, cricketers Ravi Shastri and Sandeep Patil visited their house and complimented her good voice. She received modeling opportunities early in school, but she had to decline them because her father wanted her to finish her education first. She was able to convince her father that she will both study and be a VJ when she was offered an audition for the top music network Southern Spice Music.

Personal life

At the Park Sheraton hotel in Chennai on March 9, 2008, Sriya married Tamil actor-producer Vikram Krishna. Vikram Krishna is the son of veteran film producer G. K. Reddy and his brother, actor Vishal Krishna, who had appeared in a few Tamil films before becoming a full-time film director, primarily filming his brother Vishal in the lead role under his GK Films Corporation. Sriya has been co-producing films with her husband since. The couple have a daughter.

Sriya Reddy Career

Career

Sriya, who won the VJ hunt by SS Music, has since been hosting shows such as Connect and Phonetastic. However, she cited five auditions before being chosen. She became well-known as 'VJ Sriya' on SS music, gaining a following among young viewers. In spite of her parents' opposition to her appearing in films, she embraced her first acting role in a Telugu film, insisting that she began acting while her father was asleep. Balaji Sakthivel's debut Samurai, on which she appeared as a supporting character alongside Vikram, was her debut. Appudappudu's first Telugu release Appudappudu suffered at the box office, after she did not work in film for over a year. She debuted in Malayalam in 2004 as the Mammootty-starrer Black. She played the role of a young Tamil village woman who comes to town in search of her missing husband, sporting a "thoroughly de-glamourized look" in the film, completely contrary to her realistic portrayal, with director Renjith commenting that she had a "very Dravidian face" in her role. For her role as being a part of Malayalam actor Mammootty, Sriya considered this film to be her high point in her career. According to Sriya, Sriya appeared in 19 Revolutions, directed by Chicago-based Shridhar Reddy, which portrayed Sriya as a wealthy girl who aims to murder her father but did "very well in the United States."

Bharathchandran I.P.S., a Malayalam action film that was very popular at the box office, was a single release in 2005. Her performance as an IPS police officer was lauded by critics, who compared her to Vijayashanti. She had four film debuts in 2006, with her two Tamil films gaining the most attention. Sriya was depicted as a tymie, loud woman with negative shades in Tarun Gopi's film "Thimiru," her late brother-in-law's role, with her appearance being highly praised. Sriya was a part of an ensemble cast starring Bharath, Pasupathy, Bhavana, and Priyanka Nair in the other Tamil release. The film attracted rave reviews and was recognized with multiple prestigious film awards, including the National Film Award and two Filmfare Awards. Sriya was nominated for the Filmfare Award and the Vijay Award in Priyadarshan's art film Kanchivaram, which later became well-known and was honoured with the National Film Award. She got married and stopped acting after finishing shooting for the film.

Shanthi, an empathetic village woman, made a comeback with the film Andaava Kaanom by director Vadivel, in which she will play an angry village woman.
