Early life

Deb was born in Massachusetts on March 15, 1988 to a Hindu Indian family of Bengali origin. When he was 3 years old, his family moved to New Jersey. He was raised in Howell Township, New Jersey, and was one of three students selected to make daily announcements. He graduated from Boston University with a degree in broadcast journalism in 2010.

Career

Deb's first job was as a reporter for Mass. House News Service. He has worked at The Boston Globe, NBC News, and Al Jazeera over the years. He started covering Marco Rubio's, Lindsey Graham, Rand Paul, and Donald Trump's campaigns in 2015. Deb was arrested by police while covering a rally for Trump at the University of Illinois in Chicago, which Trump eventually pulled out in the face of widespread demonstrations), and charged with resisting arrest. After footage of the incident depicting Deb's arrest but not resisted capture, the charges were dropped by police.

Deb started as a culture reporter for The New York Times in 2017. He interviewed the cast of Arrested Development in 2018; actress Jessica Walter said that costar Jeffrey Tambor had verbally assaulted her during recording.

Deb has also performed as a stand-up comedian. He appeared on The Special Without Brett Davis in 2018.
