Career
Kang made his acting debut in the 2017 romantic comedy television series The Liar and His Lover. He was cast in Man in the Kitchen in the same year as the family drama. Suran's "Sweet Summer Night" was also featured in two music videos: "Sweet Summer Night" by the acoustic pair The Ade and "Love Story" were both released on his website. On the recommendation of Love Alarm's director to Lee Eung-bok, he auditioned for the cast. Cha Hyun-su, a suicidal high school boy who, alongside a group of other apartment dwellers, is battling a "monsterization" apocalypse. The series's critical reactions were split, but it attracted a large international audience. Variety announced that 22 million member households of Netflix had watched it one month after it was announced. Kang received a nomination for Best New Actor – Television at the 57th Baeksang Arts Awards.
In 2021, Hwang Sun-oh in the second season of Love Alarm, which was released on Netflix on March 12, reprised his role as Hwang Sun-oh. He appeared in the tvN series Navillera, which was based on the eponymous webtoon. He played a ballet student who suffered as a result of unresolved problems with his father and tries to help him by working as a part-timer.
