Sondre Lerche Life

Sondre Lerche (Norwegian pronunciation: [sndr] [sndr;lk]; born 5 September 1982) is a Norwegian singer, songwriter, and guitarist who is now based in Los Angeles, California. He has nine studio albums to his credit.

Early life

Lerche was heavily inspired by the 1980s pop when growing up in a Bergen suburb. Lerche was captivated by bands including The Beatles, A-ha, The Beach Boys, and Prefab Sprout, and started formal guitar lessons at age eight. Lerche's teacher introduced him to Brazilian music (such as Bossa Nova) and thus laid the groundwork for Lerche's vast repertoire of intricate melodies and chords throughout his history. Lerche's first song, "Locust Girl," was written at the age of fourteen. Lerche appeared in acoustic gigs at the club where his sister worked when he was still under the age of 18. H.P., a Norwegian singer, was born in Norway. Gundersen "discovered" Lerche and began to mentor him, exposing him to a number of musical genres, including psychedelica, 1960s pop, and mainstream Brazilian music.

Personal life

In July 2005, Lerche married Norwegian model, actress, and director Mona Fastvold. In 2013, they divorced. From 2013 to 2020, Lerche was in a collaboration with writer and blogger Linnéa Myhre.

In 2020, Lerche will return to Norway. He lived in Los Angeles and Brooklyn, New York, where he lived from 2005 to 2018.

Sondre Lerche is the cousin of Norwegian rapper Lars Valiant. They collaborated on the single "ynene Lukket" in 2012.

In 2015, Lerche discovered a passion and passion for running and has since completed marathons in New York, London, Berlin, and Norway. In 2020, he runs his personal record of 2:55:51.

Sondre Lerche Career

Career

Lerche met with Oslo-based manager Tatiana Penzo, which culminated in an agreement with Virgin Norway in 2000. His fame in his home country has steadily grown, and Faces Down, his debut album, was released in 2000.

Faces Down was not announced until 2001, after Lerche stopped attending school. In the interim, he was named Best New Act at the Norwegian Grammys (Spellemannprisen) and appeared nationally in favor of major acts such as Beth Orton. Faces Down was first introduced in Norway in September 2001 and then spread across Europe. In Oslo, Lerche performed with a variety of artists, including his long-time idols, a-ha. Faces Down in America and Lerche's first big tour of the United States were released in autumn 2002. Faces Down was a hit in Norway and has received critical praise in Norway and the United States — Rolling Stone Magazine named it in their top 50 albums of 2002. The following year, he launched Don't Be Shallow EP, a live/studio collection. Elvis Costello, another one of his musical heroes, joined him in 2003 (they toured together again in 2005).

Two Way Monologue, his second album, was also released by Gundersen in 2004. The album featured more of Lerche's ability to be versatile, from pop-like and upbeat songs to more mellow or melodic tunes. It was well received, with glowing comments in Rolling Stone and Pitchfork. Sondre's "contagious musical sensibilities, thrilling vigor, and downright stupefying songcraft," she said, "Lerche helps himself and maintain an allegiance to his ways, something artists twice his age have trouble doing."

Duper Sessions were first announced on February 27, 2006. In the fall of 2005, singer Eric Halvorsen and guitarist Robert Halvorsen at Duper Studios in Bergen were recorded on the jazz album. The album debuted at No. 1 on the charts. Billboard's Billboard Jazz Albums chart debuts at 21 on the Billboard Jazz Albums chart.

Phantom Punch, his 2007 debut, has a more experimental sound than his previous efforts. In Los Angeles, Lerche and the Faces Down recorded and mixed the album with producer Tony Hoffer in April and May 2006.

Lerche launched Heartbeat Radio in September 2009, earning critical acclaim. Though the studio polish of his groundbreaking debut was maintained, there was also a sense of musical adventure that blended acoustic guitars with grand gestures of orchestral pop, elements of 1950s Jazz, 1960s Brazilian psych-folk, and 1980s pop masters such as Prefab Sprout, Scritti Politti, and Fleetwood Mac. "No matter what style he's working in, this young Norwegian singer-songwriter produces catchier choruses than those musicians who have been playing twice as long as he has," Mikael Wood of the Los Angeles Times wrote. Tim Sendra of Allmusic Guide called Heartbeat Radio Sondre's "best work to date."

Lerche's own Mona Records released Sondre Lerche in June 2011. Rolling Stone, The New York Times, Stereogum, Filter, Spin, and Entertainment Weekly among others' praise for its experimentation with contrasting musical sounds, this eponymous album features Lerche's most intriguing arrangements and catchy songwriting to date, as well as some of his most somber and reflective songs. Lerche wanted to explore his latest creative collaborations in Williamsburg, the Brooklyn neighborhood where he's lived on and off for the past six years. In a short but strenuous time span of three weeks, the album was recorded – live in the studio – and mixed. McKenzie Smith, a long-servation producer/collaborator, Dave Heilman, drummer for Regina Spektor), and Rare Book Room Studio, Nicolas Verhnes were among the participants in the discussions.

In 2012, Lerche's 30th birthday was announced with the unveiling of his first live album, Bootlegs.

Following his separation from Mona Fastvold, Lerche wrote and recorded a letter. On September 23, 2014, Mona Records' album, which was dubbed his "divorce record," was released. In June 2014, the album's main single, "Bad Law," was released.

Lerche's eighth studio album, Pleasure, was released on the PLZ label on March 3, 2017. Pleasure's songs were also released in a stripped down solo version titled Solo Pleasure on November 24th. On February 14, 2018, Solo Pleasure was released digitally.

Lerche's album, "Avatars of Love," was released in April 2022.
