Solange Knowles Life

Solange Piaget Knowles (born June 24, 1986), also known as Solange, is an American singer, songwriter, record producer, and actor.

Knowles, who expressed an interest in music from an early age, served as a backup dancer for Destiny's Child, which included her elder sister Beyoncé among its members, before settling with her parent Mathew Knowles' Music World Entertainment company.

Knowles' first studio album, Solo Star, was released in 2002 at the age of 16.

Knowles appeared on television, film to DVD, "All or Nothing (2006)," and began writing for Beyoncé's Child group members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams between 2005 and 2007. Knowles began to record music in 2007.

Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams (2008), her second studio album, deviated from the pop-oriented music of her debut to the Motown Sound of the 1960s and 1970s.

It reached number nine on the US Billboard 200, and critics were lauding it.

She continued this tradition with her 1980s pop and R&B-inspired extended play True (2012) on Terrible Records and her imprint Saint Records.

A Seat at the Table (2016), her third studio album, received acclaim, and became her first number one in the United States.

The album's lead single, "Cranes in the Sky," received the Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance.

When I Get Home, her fourth studio album, was released in 2019. Knowles claims that Motown girl bands heavily inspired her, and that songwriting was her first love.

Solange is often compared by the media to her sister Beyoncé, but she insists they have different ambitions and are musically different.

Billboard has ranked her as the 100th most influential dance artist of all time, and Billboard Women in Music named her with the "Impact Award" in 2017.

Her other ventures include an endorsement contract with Rimmel London and a line of hip-hop-oriented clothing for youth.

Knowles married musician Alan Ferguson in New Orleans, Louisiana, on November 16, 2014.

Early life

Solange Piaget Knowles was born in Houston, Texas, to Mathew Knowles and Tina Knowles on June 24, 1986. Beyoncé Knowles, her older sister, is a singer. Her father, a native of Alabama, is an African American of Louisiana Creole descent, and her mother, who hails from Texas, is an African American of Louisiana Creole descent. Lumis Beyincé and Agnéz Deréon, a seamstress, are her maternal grandparents. She is also a descendant of Acadian President Joseph Broussard. Knowles was Catholic until the age of four when her family became members of a Methodist church. She studied dance and theater as an infant. She made her singing debut at Six Flags AstroWorld, a theme park in Houston, at the age of five. She began writing songs at the age of nine. She decided to pursue recording at 13, but her parents at the time told her to wait. Knowles briefly replaced Kelly Rowland after she broke her toes backstage during a costume change during Destiny's Child's 2000 tour. Knowles performed with the company on tour when she was 15 years old.

Personal life

Knowles married Daniel Smith in February 2004, when she was 17 and he was 19. Knowles gave birth to a boy on October 18, 2004. Following their son's birth, the family relocated to Moscow, Idaho, where Knowles' husband continued to study in college. Knowles and the other spouses separated in 2007 after Knowles divided her time between Los Angeles and Houston, Texas. In 2011, she and her son moved to Brooklyn and then to New Orleans, Louisiana, in 2013.

On November 16, 2014, Knowles married music video director Alan Ferguson at the Marigny Opera House in New Orleans. In 2019, the couple were divorced.

Knowles first began comparing experimental jazz artist Gio Escobar from the band Standing on the Corner, with whom she had previously collaborated on her studio album When I Get Home. Knowles confirmed the friendship on Instagram in November 2020.

In an elevator at The Standard, High Line in Manhattan, on May 12, 2014, TMZ released a security video video showing Knowles physically assaulting her brother-in-law, Jay-Z, and being arrested by a security guard. The video went viral, gaining a lot of media attention from news organizations and gossip columnists, with many wondering what caused the tense confrontation. In monologues on late night talk shows such as The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and Jimmy Kimmel Live, the legendary moment was discussed. Jimmy Fallon appears on The Tonight Show and The Tonight Show. The subject was also spoofed on television programs, including Saturday Night Live and Family Guy. Knowles, Jay-Z, and Beyoncé described the situation as a "unfortune occurrence" and said that the family "has lived through it." Knowles later confirmed that she and her family were "all good."

Solange Knowles Career

Career

Knowles' mother, Mathew, first ventured into the music business in 2001 as the lead singer on Destiny's Child's title song on the animated television series The Proud Family. She appeared on "Hey Goldmember" for the 2002 film Austin Powers in Goldmember, as well as a backup singer on Destiny's Child's 2001 holiday album "Little Drummer Boy." She appeared on Lil Romeo's second studio album Game Time in 2002, singing portions of Luther Vandross-penned "So Amazing" on the single "True Love" and Kelly Rowland's debut solo album Simply Deep, in which she also wrote the tracks "Simply Deep," "Beyond Imagination," and "Obsession." In 2001, she appeared in Lil' Bow Wow's music video for his single "Puppy Love" as Lil' Bow Wow's date. In Play's video for "M.A.T.E.R.," she appeared on The Master of Disguise and made cameos. Lil' Fizz appears in "Part II" on Lil' Fizz.

In an episode of the animated television series The Proud Family, she lent her voice to Chanel, the cousin of the protagonist Penny Proud. Mathew Knowles proclaimed in June 2003 that he was considering adding Knowles to Destiny's Child, transforming the group into a quartet for the first time since long-lived member Farrah Franklin disappeared in 2000. Mathew Knowles said he was testing the reactions and that, judging by what he had seen, "it seems to be a good idea." Beyoncé said it was only a rumor later in August, and Destiny's Child will remain a trio. "She's a solo actress," Rowland's debut album says.

Knowles, a teenager from the United States, began collaborating on her debut album Solo Star, involving American artists such as Jermaine Dupri, The Neptunes, Linda Perry, and Timbaland, among others. She then released the album under her father's Music World Entertainment brand with Columbia Records. The album is primarily uptempo R&B, although Knowles claims that pop, rock, reggae, and hip hop have all been influential. Knowles co-wrote and co-produced some of the album's 15 songs, including the album's lead single, "Feelin' You (Part II)". The album did not make it to the Billboard Hot 100, but it did land atop the Hot R&B/Hip Singles Sales and Hot Dance Music/Maxi-Singles Sales charts. Solo Star was released in the United States on January 21, 2003, where it debuted at number 49 on the Billboard 200 and landed at number 23 on the Top R&B/Hip Albums chart. Solo Star's mixed critical reception: William Ruhlmann of AllMusic called it a "state-of-the-art contemporary R&B album," but Knowles "lost somewhere in the mix." According to Nielsen SoundScan, the album had sold 112,000 copies in the United States by mid-2008.

Knowles began acting in films after the debut of her debut album, followed by a career break to start a family. In 2004, she appeared in "The Catch" episode on One on One. Knowles appeared as a teen in the 2004 comedy film Johnson Family Vacation, starring American actors Cedric the Entertainer, Vanessa Williams, and Bow Wow. "Freedom," a recording by the Houston-based funk-jazz band Drop Trio, was included in the album's soundtrack. Despite general negative feedback, Knowles received praise from Variety, which said she "is nearly as dazzling as big sister Beyoncé" and appears to do little more than smile in her first bigscreen debut. In 2006, she appeared as a cheerleading captain in the film Bring It On: All or Nothing, the third installment of the Bring It On series, alongside American actress and singer Hayden Panettiere. What little critical reaction the low-budget, direct-to-DVD film received was positive, and Knowles was described as a "affordable young starlet." Knowles uses her complete name for acting rather than simply the first name she uses when singing; for Bring It On: All or Nothing, she was billed as Solange Knowles-Smith, implying her marital status at the time.

Her family moved to Idaho when she was married, and she resumed writing songs, including "Get Me Bodied" and "Upgrade U" from her sister's second solo album, B'Day. Knowles received the R&B and Hip-Hop Song award for his song "Get Me Bodied" at the 2008 ASCAP Awards. She had also written songs for Destiny's Child and members Kelly Rowland and Michelle Williams during this period. She made a cameo appearance in Destiny's Child's music video in 2004 while pregnant with her son.

Knowles returned to Houston to begin recording her second album after her divorce. Knowles resigned as a manager in 2007 after a signing of a landmark Geffen contract and a publishing contract with EMI. Knowles completed working on her second studio album in 2008 and titled the project Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams. It includes production by CeeLo Green, Soulshock & Karlin, and Mark Ronson, as well as Bilal's appearance. It is seen as a departure from her pop-oriented debut in which "more of a modern twist on hip-hop and R&B flecked with tinges of blues and jazz" is included. The album was released in the United States on August 26, 2008. According to Nielsen SoundScan, the album had sold over 114,000 copies by December 2008. Critics lauded the album, with Ian Griffin of The Guardian considering it far better than her debut. "I Decided" the album's lead single, was released in April 2008 and reached the top of the Billboard Hot Dance Club Play chart; Rolling Stone magazine called it her breakthrough single. Knowles founded the Solange Presents Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams Tour in the United Kingdom in November 2008.

Knowles revealed on her blog that she would be releasing a line of mixtapes to go with the album. "I Can't Get Clearance" is the first mixtape, which also includes the leaked track "Fuck the Industry (Signed Sincerely). Knowles expressed her opinions about the current state of the music industry on this website. The song names include quotes from Mary J. Blige, Ashanti, Keyshia Cole, and Beyoncé, although she made a point of saying that it does not have "a negative view [them]." The mixtape was never announced, but Knowles' "Fuck the Business (Signed Sincerely)" was released as a single in 2010.

Knowles revealed in an interview with MTV in 2009 that she was determining the type of sound for Sol-Angel and the Hadley St. Dreams. Knowles also left the Interscope-Geffen-A&M record label group during this period. She will now sell her third studio album on her own. Knowles' third studio album came from Australia in 2010. Knowles had intended to debut the album in summer, as she revealed on her official Twitter account in 2009. On Twitter, she also confirmed that she rented a house in Santa Barbara, California, in order to get into a certain frame of mind when writing and making music. Knowles appeared on Yo Gabba Gabba, the famous children's program, on May 7, 2010. "Mothers Day Special" hosted by her mother, where she performed her original song "Momma Loves Baby."

Knowles admitted she had "a little bit of a breakdown" while recording her latest album: "I actually gave up my sanity for a while to make this album," the singer admitted. [...] We literally woke up in the morning and started playing music all day and night. [...] In so many ways, it's just started to wear on me. "I was getting these maniatic panic attacks." Knowles shared how she made sacrifices "mentally, emotionally, and financially" and then went on to say, "It's more than an album to me." It's a transitional period in my life." "This is a dance record, but the lyrics can go very dark at times," she recalled regarding the album's musical direction.

Knowles debuted a preview video for "Losing You," the EP's lead single. Knowles' first appearance as a signee of the independent label Terrible Records was commemorated in this series. The video was shot in Cape Town, South Africa, in early September 2012. Knowles' mother, Tina, paid for Knowles and her colleagues to fly out and film the video as her birthday gift, according to Knowles in an interview. Knowles held a listening party in New York City for her EP True, which was available on iTunes on October 26, 2012. On January 8, 2013, the CD and vinyl were released. Solange appeared on the front page of The Fader magazine's 84th issue following the EP's launch.

Knowles announced on May 14, 2013, that she had founded Saint Records, which she would use to debut her third full length album and future music projects distributed by Sony. Saint Records was founded to concentrate on not-yet mainstream hip-hop and R&B artists. She also worked with The Lonely Island on the album "Semicolon," which was released as part of YouTube's Comedy Week and is included on the company's album, The Wack Album. Saint Heron, Knowles' first compilation album, was released on November 11, 2013.

Knowles performed "Rise" for the first time at an HBO-sponsored event in Ferguson and Baltimore, which was triggered by police killings in Ferguson and Baltimore and subsequent demonstrations. Knowles' third studio album, which was almost complete, was revealed in July 2015. On her thirtieth birthday, June 24, 2016, she said she had completed A Seat at the Table three days before her birthday on June 21. The album was released on September 30, 2016, to widespread critical acclaim. It was her first number one album in the United States. This made her and Beyoncé the first sisters to have both had US number-one albums in a calendar year. Knowles released music videos for the songs "Don't Touch My Hair" and "Cranes in the Sky" on October 3, 2016, which were co-directed by herself and Alan Ferguson.

Knowles appeared at the Glastonbury Festival in June 2017 and received a flawless five-star review from Patrick Smith of The Daily Telegraph, who praised her "an artist to be adored" and the event itself was "fantastic theatre." Knowles produced the video for SZA's song "The Weekend" in December 2017. Solange appeared at the Bonnaroo Music Festival, the Parklife festival, and the Lovebox Festival in 2019. When I Get Home, she released her fourth studio album on March 1. She teased the album by posting two video snippets on Instagram and Twitter as well as a personal web page on the African-American social networking site BlackPlanet. Knowles' album, according to Stereo Williams of The Daily Beast, is "one of the most gifted singer-songwriters of her generation."
