Silvy De Bie (born in Heist-den-Berg) or Silvy Melody (stylized as SIL) is a Belgian singer.
She appeared as a vocalist for the dance group Sylver.
Career
Silvy was born in Heist-op-den-Berg and became a Flanders child actress when she was nine years old. On the Flemish showbiz television program De Kinderacademie (child academy), she sang Ben (a Michael Jackson song written by Walter Scharf). This was not a competition, but an entertainment program, in which children aged 4 to 12 years old could perform an act (sing act, dance act, a little fairy tale or poem, etc.).
Her appearance was so well-reced that an independent recording studio had committed her to a contract. She released some songs (including a Dutch version of Ben) as solo-artist and several numbers with other well-known Belgian singers under the name "Silvy Melody" label. Many of her songs have made it to the top ten charts. In 1994, her career as a child actress was put to halt, owing to Belgian law on child labour, which is outlawed in Belgium.
In 2000, she became the female vocalist for the Liquid show, but the band's name was changed to Sylver later in 2001. She began working alone despite Sylver's popularity. She appeared with MNC in 2001, when she covered the Eurythmics song Sweet Dreams.
She has also worked with Milk Inc. (she is a friend of Singer Linda Mertens). The single I Don't Care (2004) made it to the Belgian Top Ten Forties. She co-authored the single Time in 2007 with 4 Clubbers in Belgium. "Lovesong" by the Crossroads musician was composed and written.
