Early life
Sierra Aylina McClain was born in Decatur, Georgia, on March 16, 1994. Michael McClain, her father, is a music engineer who coproduced Solange Knowles' debut album Solo Star (2002). Shontell, her mother, is a writer and former screenwriter. Lauryn and China Anne, two younger sisters who are also actors and singers, as well as her younger brother Gabriel, are her nieces.

She is a Christian and lives with her family in Atlanta, Georgia.
Career
China was cast in the film The Gospel (2005), after her sister was discovered in 2004 by a music executive who heard her sing, and she was cast in the children's choir. Around this time, the sisters formed the 3Mcclaingirls, the sister band. Sierra and Lauryn were introduced by a Chinese girl on the set of Tyler Perry's House of Payne in December 2005, when the sisters performed a song for her sister. They were then cast in the film Daddy's Little Girls (2004) as the James sisters and a Sierra guest appeared in Tyler Perry's House of Payne. The three sisters began posting videos of themselves performing covers of songs on their YouTube channel in 2008. In the short film Six Blocks Wide (2008), McClain played a small role as a neighbor. She appeared in the film Shrink alongside Kevin Spacey and Keke Palmer next year.
A.N.T., a Chinese actress, has won her own show on the Disney Channel. McClain Sisters and her siblings renamed the group in 2011 and performed two songs on the A.N.T. The perfect mix of "Perfect Mistake" and "Electronic Apology" appear on the farm soundtrack. Sierra McClain was also a theme music composer for the series. At the 2011 Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade, the group performed their version of "Jingle Bell Rock" in December. McClain was cast in a showtime pilot starring Lena Waithe in September 2015, but it was not picked up. McClain appeared in and appeared in the television series Empire in 2016–2018.
