Shola Ama (born 8 March 1979) is an English singer from London, who scored her biggest hits with a cover of Turley Richards' "You Might Need Somebody" (1997) and "Still Believe" (1999) which was one of the first productions by the Norwegian producing team Stargate.
Career
Ama was singing on a platform at Hammersmith tube station and was overheard by Kwame Kwaten, a producer on the FreakStreet record label, when she was 15, and was overheard by Kwame Kwaten. An unidentified independent label in 1995 released "Celebrate," a ballad made by D'Influence. Although the single was not a commercial success, Shola Ama as an artist was still popular. She signed a WEA recording contract on her 16th birthday.
Ama's first single "You're the One I Love" was released in 1996; it barely made it to the top charts, with only managing to finish No. 77. 85. "You Might Need Somebody" is her second WEA song, and it has been her biggest hit. This Turley Richards report ranked No. 10 on the charts. In April 1997, the United Kingdom Singles Chart reached their fourth position. For almost two months, it was in the top 40 for nearly two months, becoming one of 1997's biggest hits.
