Early life
Shay Carl Butler was born in Logan, Utah, on March 5, 1980, to Carl and Laurie Butler. Butler is the oldest of four children. Casey, Carlie, and Logan's siblings are all active on YouTube. Casey Butler (caseylavere) is married to Kayli Butler (HeyKayli). Carlie Wood (CarlieStylez and WhatsUpWoods) have over 500,000 followers on their YouTube channels, while Logan Butler (LoganMckay55) has just under 400,000. Butler's family immigrated from Phoenix, Arizona, and then to Pocatello, Idaho, at the age of four. Butler served for a full time, two-year mission in Barbados, Trinidad, and Guyana for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints after graduating from high school. He attended Idaho State University for a short time but then decided to begin working on his own. Butler used granite countertops for a living and worked as a school bus driver prior to being on YouTube. He also worked as a radio DJ for Z103.
Personal life
In January 2003, Butler married Colette Crofts ("Colette Kati") in Colette Crofts ("Colette Kati). Gavin, Avia, Emmi, Brock, and Daxton are five children of the couple. Butler said that a significant portion of his children's lives had been recorded and released in public.
