Career

Clarke is best known for her role in Holby City, in which she played Lola Griffin, a doctor with roots from Ghana. In 2008, she dropped out of the program. Clarke reprised his role in one episode in 2019.

Gran'Ma Flossie's role in the CBBC's show The Crust is among other television roles. Clarke appeared on the BBC talent show Last Choir Standing in 2008, alongside Russell Watson as a judge. Clarke's other television appearances include: Waking the Dead, Soldier Soldier, Broken Glass, Between the Lines, Children's Ward, Stop, Look & Listen, Mary Seacole, Boo! Informer and Informer.

Clarke has also appeared on Ready Steady Cook, hosted by Ainsley Harriott, and represented Holby City in 2008, winning with chef Garca Dawson.

She has appeared on The Paul O'Grady Show as a guest and performed the "O'Grady, O'Grady" song to celebrate the 500th show. She has appeared on Children in Need for the BBC, appearing as Killer Queen on We Will Rock You and also singing with her Holby City co-stars.

Clarke Jones, the brothel owner, appeared on The Bill, "Death Knock," on August 10, 2010 as brothel owner Denise Jones.

Clarke made her pantomime debut in the Hackney Empire's Mother Goose in 2008. At the Birmingham Repertory Theatre, she appeared in Once on This Island. In 2009, she was also scheduled to appear in The Vain Monologues and Once on This Island at The Hackney Empire. When Hairspray's hugely successful hit musical Hairspray ended on March 28th, 2010, she appeared at the Shaftesbury Theatre. Clarke was Davina the Diva Harp in Jack and the Beanstalk and Carmina the Camel in Aladdin, both at the Hackney Empire. She appeared in a one-off performance at the Hackney Empire in July 2010, alongside Clive Rowe.

Clarke received the Laurence Olivier Award for Best Actress in a Musical at the 2019 Laurence Olivier Awards. The performance was transferred to Roundabout Theatre Company's Studio 54 on Broadway in October 2021, having been postponed for more than a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Clark played a new role in her Broadway debut, and critics applauded her. The limited run ended on January 9th, 2022, on January 9th, 2022.

Linda Loman, a member of Arthur Miller's play Death of a Salesman, appeared in the Young Vic in 2019, and she will return to the West End in October 2019. In July 2019, she appeared as The Lady in Sheldon Epps's Blues In The Night at the Kiln Theatre in London.

Clarke's revamp of Going Back to My Roots and Nomad with the singles "I Want a Groove" and "Just a Groove," the latter of which have sold more than two million singles worldwide.

Clarke was also a member of the Female vocal group Six Chix, which was established for the Eurovision Song Contest 2000. They came in second place in the UK selection with the single "Only the Women Know." They were defeated by Nicki French's song "Don't Play That Song Again" as a result of their ride to Stockholm, finishing 16th.

Clarke, as well as appearing on the original cast recordings for Once on This Island, Stepping Out, We Will Rock You, and Ghost The Musical, starred Terry Pratchett's Only You Can Save Mankind on Terry Pratchett's Only You Can Save Mankind, a tribute to West End actors, including Kerry Ellis, Ricardo Afonso and Daniel Boys.
