Early life
Sharad was born on 9 January 1983 and was sent to Kolkata, where he obtained his B.Com from St. Xavier's College. From where his journey began in 2003, he was named Face Of The Year in Kolkata.
Sharad is also passionate about kickboxing, horse riding, and swimming, in addition to modeling and acting.

Career
After arriving in Mumbai, Malhotra attended an acting workshop and did modeling. He was the first male model to do a jewelry campaign. In 2004, Malhotra began his career with Best Cinestars Ki Khoj as a contestant. Prince Goldy in Princess Dollie Aur Uska Magic Bag made his acting debut in the same year as Prince Goldy, and he had a cameo in Kabhie To Nazar Milao.
He appeared in his first major role with Banoo Main Teri Dulhan in 2006, where he appeared in the lead role of Sagar opposite Divyanka Tripathi and was later identified as Amar Upadhyay. The program was a hit. In mid-2009, the program came to an end.
