Scottie Scheffler broke down in Butler Cabin (left) after his win at the Augusta National on Sunday as he dashed to quickly get home to his wife Meredith, (pictured on right with Scheffler last month) who is pregnant with their first child. Scheffler, 27, secured his second Masters title in three years after carding a closing 68 at Augusta National to finish four shots ahead of Sweden's Ludvig Aberg. But after his victorious triumph on the course, the world number one's thoughts immediately turned to getting home to Texas as soon as possible. 'I'm coming home; I'll be home as quick as I can,' Scheffler (pictured inset with his Masters trophy) said when asked if he had a message for his wife. 'I love you and I'm coming home.'

Masters 2024: Jon Rahm reveals he BLACKED OUT while giving a speech at his Champions Dinner this week because he was so nervous: 'I have no idea what I said'

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 11, 2024
Jon Rahm revealed his nerves got the better of him during his Champions Dinner earlier this week. As is tradition, the reigning Masters champion hosted a dinner for all the past winners of the major championship in the most exclusive gatherings in golf.  The Spaniard welcomed his guests with an Iberian themed menu that started with a mix of tapas and pintxos, including spicy Basque chorizo, and 'Mama Rahm's Classic Lentil Stew' - and dish made exactly to his grandmother's recipe by chef Jose Andres, who helped Rahm design the menu. However, despite having a home comfort, the 29-year-old admitted he still felt the pressure when it came to delivering his speech to the legends of the game.

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 11, 2024
One of the sporting world's most prestigious events is due to get underway on Thursday - but all is not right on the Augusta National Golf Course. The storied competition has decided to delay all gate openings on day one after heavy thunderstorms have threatened the competition's start time. But how bad is the forecast? And could the timings of the event be shifted? Here, Mail Sport explains how weather could impact the crowning of a new Masters champion.

The Masters 2024: Jon Rahm savaged by Brandel Chamblee over $500m move from the PGA Tour to LIV Golf: 'He thought his departure was gonna be the tipping point... it wasn't at all'

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 10, 2024
Controversial analyst Brandel Chamblee has launched a brutal attack on Jon Rahm over his $500million move to the Saudi-backed LIV Golf. Rahm, who his preparing to defend his Masters title at Augusta National this week, became one of the most high-profile defectors to the rebel tour when he left the PGA Tour in December. Earlier this week, Rahm told the BBC that he thought his move could prove a 'tipping point' for the sport as negotiations continue over an end to golf's civil war.

Jon Rahm insists his switch to LIV Golf will HELP his bid to retain the Masters as Spaniard says he feels 'fresh and ready for it' after playing less holes and events than his PGA rivals

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 9, 2024
MIKE KEEGAN AT AUGUSTA NATIONAL: Reigning champion Jon Rahm believes his switch to LIV Golf has actually left him better-equipped to retain the green jacket. The Spaniard, who cruised to an emotional four-shot victory last year on Seve Ballesteros' birthday, delivered a stunning blow to the PGA Tour when he quit for its Saudi-backed rival in December. There are fewer events in LIV and less holes to play, but when asked if that would have an impact Rahm was adamant that it would aid his performance over the coming days at Augusta National.

After Max Homa's victory in the Nedbank Golf Challenge, Rory McIlroy claims his fifth Race to Dubai title... with world No. 2 Colin Montgomerie's record in mind

www.dailymail.co.uk, November 12, 2023
Rory McIlroy will lift his fifth Race to Dubai title this week after Max Homa's victory in the Nedbank Golf Challenge secured the Northern Irishman's second consecutive crown. Jon Rahm can now no longer hear McIlroy ahead of the season-end DP World Tour Championship, which begins in Abu Dhabi on Thursday. In 2012, 2014, and 2015, the World No. 2 McIlroy won the Race to Dubai, previously known as the Order of Merit. Colin Montgomerie's eight titles are only bettered by the 34-year-old's five titles, including seven in a row from 1993-99 and Seve Ballesteros' six.

Ivor Robson, the legendary golf announcer, dubbed 'Voice of The Open,' has died at the age of 83

www.dailymail.co.uk, October 17, 2023
Robson was the official first-tee starter for 18,995 players in 41 editions of the championship between Carnoustie and St Andrews in 2015. His 'on the tee' appearance on a distinctly Scottish accent has continued to be imitated on golf courses around the world. The R&A's CEO, Martin Slumbers, who organises The Open, expressed he was "terribly sad" to hear of Ivor's death.

From peppering pins to pitching insurance! Chip Beck, the American Ryder Cup champion, earned millions but had 46 missed cuts in a row and six expensive kids... and swapped the greens for a salesman job

www.dailymail.co.uk, September 28, 2023
ROME'S RIATH AL-SAMARRAI: The overwhelming majority of his clients know who he is and who he is, according to the salesman's estimate. However, every so often someone will turn up to those meetings on the golf courses of Florida with no idea of what makes him different. They'll see his swing, and you can be certain it's the best in the class because at 67, he'll still knock it where he wants to. They'll also hear his pitches and patter, and many businesses will prosper if their company is so upbeat they could charm balls out of lakes.

Michael Jordan, Michael Phelps, and a former President of Team USA are among Michael Jordan's motivations for the Ryder Cup: Michael Jordan, Michael Phelps, and a former President

www.dailymail.co.uk, September 24, 2023
Both squads are keen to topple the other, but the captains often have a trick or two up their sleeves, in the case players ever need an extra boost. Over the years, writing in motivational speakers in the form of athletes, celebrities, and even politicians has become extremely popular. The Europeans have a diverse group of stars to fire up their staff. Sir Alex Ferguson, the legendary former Manchester United manager, left Rory McIlroy mesmerized, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola backed Tommy Fleetwood in 2018, but Seve Ballesteros' spirit ignited their comeback bid during the Miracle of Medinah. However, the Americans aren't without their own motivators, recruiting its own sports stars, a president, and even someone who is not familiar with the game.

With a round of 63 that he describes as the best Open Championship round at Royal Liverpool since 1897, Jon Rahm converts into the Pied Piper of Hoylake

www.dailymail.co.uk, July 23, 2023
KINGDOMAIN AT HOYLAKE: This observer could provide you with all manner of superlatives for what he produced after the turn, with six birds enabling him to card a 63, the highest Open Championship round in the 13 renewals Royal Liverpool has seen since 1897. Listen to the man himself to fully appreciate the artistry of this particular body of work. 'It's the best round I've played on a links golf course' ever,' Rahm said.

By winning the US PGA Championship, Brooks Koepka gives LIV Golf a shot in the arm

www.dailymail.co.uk, May 22, 2023
After winning his fifth major at the USA PGA Championship over the weekend, Brooks Koepka is now level with Seve Ballesteros, giving LIV Golf's position a welcome boost. Many valid reasons have been attached to Koepka's latest triumph, but perhaps the one showing that only he, Tiger Woods, and Phil Mickelson have won five or more majors in the last 30 years has been successful.

Master Jon Rahm scores 9/10 in virtually every part of his game, according to RIATH AL-SAMARRAI

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 10, 2023
Jon Rahm is the Masters champion and currently No. 1 in the world. Even if he is not the best player in any one sector, his victory on Sunday was down to an amazing all-round game that sees excellence in virtually every segment. His brilliance is very much rooted in the sum of its parts. Since the Spaniard, who was born with a clubbed foot, turned professional in 2016, the upshot has been a fruitful career.

Jon Rahm dedicates his Masters victory to legend to Seve Ballesteros

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 10, 2023
On Sunday, Spaniard Jon Rahm won his first match of his career, and said he felt the presence of his idol, the late Seve Ballesteros, helped him get him through. Rahm's victory, which marked his second major title, was extra special given that it came on the 40th anniversary of his compatriot's second victory at Augusta National and on what would have been Ballesteros' 66th birthday. 'Still hasn't sinked in yet.' After his winning putt, I'm checking the scores, and I still think I have a few more holes to win,' said Rahm, who looked out the skies with his hands in praise. Can't really say anything else.' This one was for Seve. He was up there assisting and assisting him.'

The Masters: Jon Rahm predicted winning at Augusta a decade ago

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 10, 2023
After launching a fortune cookie, Masters champion Jon Rahm predicted he would win the major ten years ago. The Spaniard, who won the Green Jacket after a four-shot victory at Augusta National on Sunday, Tweeted back in 2013 and has now resurfaced. The post on November 8, 2013 read: 'I am gonna win The Masters!'

Masters: Jon Rahm blitzes LIV rival Brooks Koepka to win Augusta title

www.dailymail.co.uk, April 10, 2023
RIATH AL-SAMARRAI AT AUGUSTA NATIONAL: A surge has emerged after the hurricanes and a surge has ensued. There was some hope after the terrors, but there was some solace in it. A brutal fall followed Brooks Koepka's ascension. And with it, the mighty elevation of Jon Rahm (pictured), the Masters champion and proud owner of a new jacket. What a drama. And if you want to cut it, what timing will be the best. This was a great study in how to remain cool when your nearest neighbor is losing his mind, if we stick to the sporting context. For Koepka, there is nothing more than that. Poor bloke collapsed in a way that had never been expected on the biggest stages for the revived four-time major champion, but we'll never get to him again. We must start with the big Spaniard, who walked him down and then walked away with 69 strong blows in an unspectacular loop that turned a two-stroke deficit into a four-shot victory and his second major title, first and foremost.

Portugal golf holidays: Head to the Algarve's east coast for empty fairways

www.dailymail.co.uk, March 27, 2023
Mark Jones and his friends enjoyed a golf break in the east of the area with the boutique Praia Verde hotel as their base. Compared to the central Algarve area, there are considerably fewer mega resorts in this region, and the clientele is much more likely to be local, according to Mark. 'We were the only three British golfers on tour,' he says.'

Wood you believe it! In the Daily Mail Foursomes, Ashley Wood wins Dorset's showdown

www.dailymail.co.uk, March 21, 2023
Helen Cloney of Ashley Woods had a debut in the Daily Mail Foursomes when she and partner Ann Morris needed five extra holes to knock out Dorset rivals Sherborne in a first-round enigma. The septuagenarian friends took four-and-a-half hours to resolve the nerve-testing marathon tie. People thought we'd been lost,' a delighted Cloney, 70, said with a chuckle. Both of us were exhausted both physically and mentally.

In a lawsuit, the Squash coach says that "prominent members" of a country club slept with prostitutes

www.dailymail.co.uk, March 2, 2023
According to a recent lawsuit, an exclusive New York country club fired its head squash coach after she said that a staffer was assaulted by a 'prominent member' and other members were using the club to have rendezvous with prostitutes. Natalie Grainger, 45, one of the world's most popular squash players, claims that a member of the club confessed to paying a female member of her staff 'not for squash.' That same employee reportedly was assaulted by the perpetrator. Grainger said in the lawsuit, which was filed Wednesday in the Southern District of New York's Southern District of New York, that she was dismissed from her $145,000 per year job rather than investigating the allegations. The club charges a $170,000 registration fee and then annual dues of $15,000. It's well known for its two championship golf courses and beach club along the Long Island Sound, as well as its 'family oriented' reputation. The club's board chairman, Mark Christiana, and Tom Nevin, the former club manager, who now serves as the manager of a South Carolina team, are among the plaintiffs in the litigation.

Despite a spirited challenge from Max Homa, Jon Rahm defeats the Genesis Invitational

www.dailymail.co.uk, February 19, 2023
On the 18th hole, Max Homa's chip shot from the rough near the green was on-line and dropped into the cup. However, rather than falling in to put pressure on leader Jon Rahm, the ball bounced over the hole, much to both Homa and the gallery's dismay. Rahm was able to win the Genesis Invitational by two strokes over Homa because of a final round 69.

After winning his THIRD Spanish Open title, Jon Rahm imitates his hero Seve Ballesteros

www.dailymail.co.uk, October 9, 2022
Ballesteros, a national open champion who died in 2011, won his national open in 1981, 1985, and 1995, but the 2021 US Open champion fully justified his position in front of an adoring home audience.
