Seth Lakeman Career

Career

In the village of Buckland Monachorum in West Devon, England, Seth Lakeman and his two brothers, Sean Lakeman and Sam Lakeman, grew up with his two brothers. He began playing music with his parents and brothers at an early age.

The three brothers, as The Lakeman Brothers, debut their debut album Three Piece Suite in 1994. Kathryn Roberts and Kate Rusby, a Yorkshire-based singer, and Kate Rusby invited them as a back group on a tour of Portugal later this year. After the tour, the five musicians became a permanent group and called themselves Equation. In 1995, the group was signed to a landmark deal with Time Warner. Lakeman left Equation in 2001 after three complete albums (Return to Me in 1996, Hazy Daze in 1998, and The Lucky Few in 2000), as well as tours in the United Kingdom, Europe, and the United States, Lakeman left Equation. Sam and Sam Dillon performed on Dillon's eponymous debut album, which featured Lakeman on fiddle, guitar, and vocals. At the 2002 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards, the album received two awards.

In 2002 Lakeman's debut solo album, The Punch Bowl, was released by elder brother Sean Lakeman, who received a lot of flak - including a review in fRoots magazine that said, "The songs don't just glide smoothly by... they get their claws into you."

In 2004, Kitty Jay, Lakeman's second solo album, was released. This dish was also made by brother Sean Lakeman in his kitchen. Jay's Grave, a well-known location on Dartmoor, is told in the album's title track. The album was purchased for less than £300. In the United Kingdom, Kitty Jay has earned a silver medal. On the album Western Approaches, he collaborated with Devon singer-songwriter Steve Knightley and young local singer Jenna Witts.

Following his Mercury Music Prize nomination, Lakeman and his band (regularly brother Sean Lakeman (guitar), Ben Nichols (bass), and Andy Tween (drums), toured extensively with folk-rock band The Levellers, who closed their set with a "fiddle off" between Lakeman and Levellers' fiddler Jonathan Sevink in Autumn 2005. Lakeman's music was also available on other support tours with Billy Bragg and Jools Holland.

Lakeman began a tour in the United Kingdom in March 2006 to promote his new album Freedom Fields, which had been released on iScream. Sean Lakeman He signed to Relentless Records, a new major record company, shortly releasing a new single "Lady of the Sea" in early August 2006. This year, it went gold, making it one of the country's biggest selling traditionally based folk songs.

Poor Man's Heaven, his fourth solo album, was released on June 30, 2008, with accompanying tour. It gave the people of the previous albums a rocky edge. It was also Sean Lakeman's last album to be released, and it was also named with gold medals in the United Kingdom.

Hearts & Minds, Lakeman's fifth album, was released on July 19, 2010. On November 18, 2011, Tchad Blake Lakeman, a studio veteran, released Tales from the Barrel House, his sixth album. The Word Of Mouth album was released in 2014.

The Well Worn Path, Lakeman's second album, was released in 2018. Make Your Mark, his most recent collection, was released in 2021.
