Sergei Valerievich Kharitonov (born August 18, 1980) is a Russian Heavyweight mixed martial artist and former kickboxer currently competing for Bellator MMA, M-1 Global, and GLORY.
He has competed in Japanese MMA companies such as PRIDE Fighting Championships, DREAM (Both in Japan), and Strikeforce, which was headquartered in the United States, and has been a professional MMA fighter since 2000. Kharitonov has participated in two major mixed martial arts tournaments and one major kickboxing tournament.

Mixed martial arts career
Sergei started being interested in sports as a child, despite his father's being taught first by his father. Following an incident where a drunken adult passer-by broke up a scuffle between Sergei and another child by raising Sergei in the air, striking him in the chest and cutting his eyebrow with that punch, Kharitonov began training boxing seriously when he was ten or eleven years old. Sergei may not have been striking a grounded opponent, according to the guy, who justified his behavior by arguing that he should not have been attacking a grounded opponent.
Kharitonov began learning Combat Sambo at the age of 16. Sergei started participating in hand-to-hand combat (simplified version of Combat Sambo) and MMA during his time at the Airborne Troops Academy. After Kharitonov graduated from the academy, Vladimir Pogodin, the Russian Top Team's coach, welcomed him to join the team. Sergei was invited to be Fedor Emelianenko's sparring partner, who taught him several ground combat skills, including striking on the ground and submissions at first. Sergei continued to compete in various Russian MMA tournaments, and in October 2003, he made his debut in the Pride Fighting Championships, one of the world's top MMA clubs at that time.

On September 23, 2008, Kharitonov's next fight was scheduled to be against Mighty Mo at DREAM 6. Mighty Mo was forced to cancel due to a back injury, but Mighty Mo was compelled to leave due to a back injury. Mighty Mo's replacement was Jimmy Ambriz. Sergei gained by strikes in the first round. In a North/South Choke, Jeff Monson secured Sergei. The Russian tried punching his way out, but was forced to tap for the first time in his career.
Sergei made his debut on February 12, 2011 when he signed a contract to fight for Strikeforce. In the first round of Strikeforce 2011 Heavyweight Grand Prix qualifying, he met former UFC Heavyweight champion Andrei Arlovski. Sergei beat Andrei Arlovski in the first round, losing by a single point. In the next round, Sergei met Josh Barnett, who beat Brett Rogers on June 18, 2011 at Strikeforce: Dallas. He submitted John Delgado by keylock at the MMA: Russian Open Championship in St.Petersburg, Russia, on June 1, 2012. Kharitonov has signed with M-1 Global and Oleg Taktarov's Fight Star MMA Promotion and is scheduled to meet Travis Wiuff in December 2013. The fight didn't come to an end, but Kharitonov defeated Alexey Kudin at M-1 Challenge in Surgut, Russia, on November 15 of that year, defeating him by TKO (punches) in the second round.

On November 11, 2014, Kharitonov was scheduled to face Satoshi Ishii in a Battle in the Celestial Empire. However, Ishii did not recover from the match due to injury. Instead, he met Kenny Garner in the third round of the tournament, with Kharitonov winning by doctor stoppage in the third round.

On March 31, 2017, Kharitonov defeated Chase Gormley at Bellator 175. In the first round, he was able to win the fight by being knocked out.
On October 12, 2018, Kharitonov met Roy Nelson in the Bellator 207 co-main event. In round one, he defeated the opposition by being knocked out.
Kharitonov signed a new multi-fight deal with Bellator, as well as a headlined Bellator 215 against Matt Mitrione on February 15, 2019.
