Career
Astin's first acting appearance was in the 1981 television film Please Don't Hit Me, Mom, in which he played an 8-year-old boy with an abusive mother (portrayed by his real-life mother Patty Duke). In 1985, Mikey made his film debut in The Goonies at the age of 13.
Astin appeared in numerous films after The Goonies, including the Disney made-for-TV film The B.R.A.T. Astin produced and co-produced the short film Kangaroo Court in 1994, which received an Academy Award nomination for Best Live Action Short Film.
