Scott La Rock Career

Career

La Rock returned to New York City in the hopes of finding jobs and making inroads into the music industry. Scott started working as a social worker at Franklin Armory Men's Shelter on 166th Street in the Bronx through a cousin of his mother's. He spun records at the Broadway Repertoire Theatre, even at night.

La Rock, a social worker, met rapper KRS-One in 1986 at Franklin Men's Shelter, where KRS remained. DJ Derrick "D-Nice" Jones, a cousin of the shelter's security guard, Floyd Payne, founded Boogie Down Productions (BDP).
