Sasha Sokol Career

Solo career

Sökol attended the Walnut Hill School of the Performing Arts in 1986. Sasha, her first solo album in Mexico, has sold over a million copies in the country over the next year, making it one of Mexico's best-selling albums in 1987. "No Me Extraordinary Nada" was her first single, and it was released with a music video. For her habit of dressing in a certain hue, she was dubbed "La Dama de Negro" (the Lady in Black). "Rueda Mi Mente," the album's top hit, debuted on Mexican radio and stayed there for several weeks. Sökol made her television debut in Siempre En Domingo, the country's biggest variety show at the time.

The maxi-single "Diamante," she released in 1988, was chosen as the theme song for Eres' music magazine Eres. Carmen Montejo and Angélica Mara also started a television career with the series Tres Generaciones (TV Show) in 1988 (Three Generations).

Alejandra Guzmán and Alix Bauer (another ex-Timbiriche) appeared in a song titled "Detrás del Amor" on the compilation album Nos vamos de vacaciones in 1989. Trampas de luz, her second album, was released this year.

"Amor amor" for the compilation album Juntos ayer hoy and "Noche de ronda" for El estudio de Lara's compilation album "Amor amor" appeared in 1990.

Sökol's third album, Siento, was released in 1991, and she appeared in the Mexican soap opera Alcanzar una estrella II. It was a huge success, and the musical group from the telenovela, Muecos de papel (Paper Dolls), which included Sökol, Ricky Martin, Bibi Gaytan, and Angélica Rivera among others, released two soundtrack albums with music from the series. Muecos de papel had such success that it was voted "Revelation of the Year" at the second annual awards show Premios Eres, winning the coveted award.

Sökol's fourth solo album, Amor sin tiempo, debuted in 1992.

Sökol performed well in Mexico and Latin America from the late 1980s to the early 1990s. Sasha (1987), her first album, has been her most popular. At that time, she was considered Mexico's top female pop icon, and her style was imitated by hordes of teenagers all around Mexico, resulting in the introduction of her own jewelry line and a perfume labelled "Fama."

Sökol put her career on hold and plunged into cocaine therapy in 1993. Months later, she made official representations of her heroin use and recovery to Mexican media. She thanked her fans for her abduction and for all the rumors that were spread while out of the spotlight.

She returned to the music scene in 1997 with the release of Sony Mexico's 11:11.11 Right before her mother's hospitalization and eventual death, 11:11 acstico (11:11 Acoustic), which was supposed to take place in Mexico and certain countries in Central and South America, was postponed, but her international tour was postponed due to her mother's hospitalization and eventual death.

Sökol appeared on international tour in 1998 as one of the original founding members of the Mexican pop group Timbiriche, and they released El concierto, a double album.

After a long absence, she returned to the music scene in 2004 with the album Porn amor. This album is recognizable to her followers because it is not of the pop music style but rather one that refers to the traditional Mexican music style, rancheras.

Sokol appeared on Big Brother VIP in 2005 and received the grand prize. She had released eleven gold albums, four platinum albums, and one diamond album in her solo career as of 2005.

With Spanish singer Miguel Bosé, she released the song "No encuentro pa' olvidar" in 2006.

In 2007, she joined Timbiriche's founding members (except Paulina Rubio due to a worldwide solo tour) to celebrate the group's 25th anniversary. The same six founding members of Timbiriche returned to tour in 2010.

Sökol's seventh pop album and eighth album overall, Tiempo Amarillo, and her seventh pop pop song.

Sökol joined Erik Rubin and Benny Ibarra, co-founders of the pop band Timbiriche, in 2012 and launched Primera Fila: Sasha Benny y Erik, a live album showcasing their greatest hits as a musical trio. The album features three hits from each artist, three cover songs, and one new song. The unique feature of this live album is that they perform all 13 tracks together. Sasha Benny's album Primera Fila: Sasha Benny Erik was officially recognized by AMPROFON as Mexico's second best-selling album of the year (following Alejandro Fernandez's album "Confidencias"). Sasha, Benny y Erik's first studio album "Vivuelta al Sol" and "Esta Noche" would be released as their first single in late 2014.

Sasha is one of Timbiriche's oldest founding members (current line up includes original founders Sasha Sokol, Benny Ibarra, Alix Bauer, Erik Rubin, Mariana Garza, and Diego Schoening) on the 35th anniversary of the organization's founding members in 2017. The tour will continue in 2018.
