Life and career
Sloan grew up outside Boston and learned how to play on a piano that her mother bought when she was five. As a child, her grandparents lived in Siberia, Russia, and she spent summers on their farm there. Sloan, a teen, moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career as a writer; she worked at a coffee shop to support herself. On February 6, 2019, she made her US national television debut on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
Sloan appeared in Kaskade's "Phoenix" in 2015, as well as being credited for songwriting. Sloan continued her writing for writers, including Idina Menzel, Maggie Lindemann, and Camila Cabello. Sloan appeared in Kygo's "This Town," which she also cowrote.
Sad Girl, her debut EP, was released by RCA on April 18, 2018.

Sloan revealed on August 3 that her debut album Only Child would be released in the fall, with lead singer "Lie" released on August 7. "House With No Mirrors," she released as her second single from her debut album on August 25, she performed "House With No Mirrors" on August 25. On August 28, she revealed that her debut album Only Child would be out on October 16.
On November 17, Sloan announced a collaboration with singer/songwriter Charlie Puth called "Is It Just Me?" "The book, which will be published on November 19, 2020," the author says.
